I don't live there, but Phoenix Children's, St. Josephs, Banner Samaritan are a few.

Wow I just came on here to ask the exact same question! I'm planning to move to phoenix from Miami sometime during the summer. Where are you coming from and when? I'm also looking for level II or III NICU. I'm also thinking of Chandler, Mesa and Tempe but want to find a hospital first. I'm thinking of using a permanent placement firm. Good luck with your search.
Yea you too. What I seem to be finding is there are so many NICUs in the area but not really but the towns we are thinking of. Why are you moving out there?? Are you from Florida originally? I have been here 4 years and I have had enough. Lets keep in touch, new friends are nice to have in a new town. I am in Tampa now and I am looking at early summer too. Are you at a level 3 now? Which one? Becky
gonna get there

If you are thinking of living in Mesa/Chandler area the closest NICU would be Banner Desert. It is located in Mesa at Dobson/Southern.

Keep in mind that everything is within probably an hour from Chandler, and only like 45 min from Mesa area at the longest, (our freeway systems are pretty good these days). Phoenix Children's at Good Sam in phoenix is a great NICU. I'm just starting nursing school but I hope to end up there. I have had two babies that spent time in the NICU and Phx Children's was AMAZING!
I grew up in Mesa and currently live in Gilbert, I love it here and would never live anywhere else. I don't mind the commute since it is usually only 3 days a week, and if you work graves it's even better since your going against rush hour.
Good luck either way and welcome to the valley of the sun.
Hi I was just wondering if you are still planning to move to Phoenix. How is your job search going? I'm still looking but I don't see many NICU, peds, M/B etc. I was told by a recruiter that NICU usually picks up when it gets hot because moms don't drink enough water so they get dehydrated and go into preterm labor.

i'm a pre-nursing student, but would highly recommend banner desert in mesa. my twins spent 2 weeks in their NICU and i loved every single staff member i interacted with. that being said, i can't say anything about how it is to work there.
I would call around to any and every NICU ...... I'm not sure if any NICUs in the valley are hiring right now.

A friend of mine works in peds at Banner Desert and told me that they just laid off at least 6 nurses from their NICU. Things are getting tight here in the valley. Most hospitals are not hiring new grads. If you have experience, make sure you have a solid job lined up here in the valley before moving. On a side note, Banner has a tendency to overstaff their shifts and call off nurses if not busy. All the people I know who work at Banner are having a hard time even getting their 3 shifts a week. Investigate fully before hiring on, it's not like it was a year or so ago where nurses had their pick of jobs.
