PEth Alcohol Test

Do nursing monitoring programs do PEth testing, which is a blood test done to monitor the use of alcohol? Curious if there are any nurses in monitoring programs who are currently taking these tests in their random drug testing.

I have a friend who got a DUI. She has to call a phone number every morning to see if she has to go pee in a cup and they test for alcohol as part of the UA. She also has to pay $35 every time she gets called in.

From Tx. we use a daily callin system to see if you have to present a UA. Cost $60 each time you donate. I've only heard of the PEth test within the last month on this forum..... Peace

NCBON can test urine, blood, hair or any other bodily fluid they choose so and it's on the nurses dime! I pay $76 dollars per screening, so if you pay less be thankful. From what I gather the hair and blood testing is rate but expensive!

Why did they give you a hair test? Did you do something wrong or get in trouble?

No I was randomly selected.. It was toward the end of my probation. Never had any problems while in the program.

Wow... didn't realize they did that. Couple of questions... Is that something they do for everyone as they close in on the end of the program? How were you selected? Was it thru the normal test notification system that you have to check daily?

Thanks for the info. One last question, do you know if that type of test picks up hand sanitizer like the etg test does?

Just curious, did you have times you forgot to call or log in to the system, or chose the wrong option that may have prompted a hair test...
