Passed or not?? FREAKING OUT!!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

This site is really great, I just signed up. I graduated in May from an ADN RN program and took the boards in July. Unfortunately I was not successful at 265 questions. I just took them for the 2nd time on Sat and it shut-off at 75, which I never expected so of course I was shocked and nervous, but excited at the same time. I really deep down don't think I could have done worse than the first exam, which I came out as near passing for every category. Between exams I did over 4000 questions from Saunders and NCSBN website. I can't even really remember much from my exam except that I had 4 all that apply questions, some disaster questions, several priority questions (like who would you assess first), 1 really hard question that I never heard of and had no clue about (pertained to chinese medicine, but the answers had the names of chinese therapies or something along those lines), and 1 question I definately got wrong which was an EKG strip. Dummy me I knew instinctly what the answer was and allowed my brain to talk me out of it. So of course I'm slightly worried.

I had no math calculations and probably no more than 5 that I thought were easy that I'm sure I got right. I'm just freaking out because I really need to pass so I can go back to work. I have a job waiting for me, but if I didn't pass again I think I'll have to resign. I just want to know what everyone thinks. I mean it sucks when you have nothing to go on. It would be nice if they could make the exam so you get results right away, like when you take your driving permit exam. I'm not even sure when I will be able to get results, since it's a holiday weekend, too. My family thinks I passed and I'm hoping they're right. I feel that I worked hard and learned a lot in between exams, however I'm also not the best test taker. Any feedback would hopefully help with how I feel. Thanks everyone for listening!!

9/3/2007 UPDATE>>>>>>>>>>>> I PASSED!!! Thanks for all the support and good words in my time of waiting. I opted to pay the $7.95 for the results from pearson since they had them today. I couldn't wait any longer, especially when I knew that I could get them if I really wanted to. :

You did fine---my hubby was in the same spot, failed 1st time, second time-shut off at 75 questions..he, too, freaked...keep checking the BRN web site for your state--he found out about 6 days later that he passed..(unlike the several MONTHS I had to wait for results (back in the days of boards 2x a year)

Let us know and good luck--but, again, I will bet you did just fine..

There is no way to tell if you passed or failed based on the number of questions or the type or any of the other NCLEX myths out there.

Sounds like you were well prepared and you've got an excellent chance of passing, but you're just going to have to wait like the rest of us did. Maddening isn't it? :)

Best of luck to you.

Best of luck to you when you get your results, but no one is able to second guess how you did on the exam.

I also moved this thread to the NCLEX Forum where you will find that many others are in the same shoes as you. Most feel that they did not pass, but the actual fact is that 85% do pass it.

Trying to figure out if you passed or did not pass is just going to give you ulcers, suggest that you just take these couple of days to relax. If your state participates in Quick Results, it will be posted tomorrow on the Pearson-Vue website, their computers do not take holidays or weekends off.

OMG! I'm freakin out too. I also took the exam On Friday, and I too got 75 questions although it was my first time taking the exam. I really have no advice for you since we are both in the same shoes. I just say pray and leave it in God's hands. We have be preparing for the for 2 years, and my mottois " HARD WORK PAYS OFF." So just sit back and relax we will by the be RN's by the end of the week, so Congrats in advance RN!

That's a drastic improvement on the questions..and I have a good feeling about you too.

Just about everyone, from what I have read on here, feels like they failed the test, but you actually seem to have a good feeling about it, which means you were SURE of your answers...and that is a VERY good sign.

I'll be crossing my fingers for you. I get excited whenever I see someone post that they passed...it's a wonderful ending to an incredibly tough road.

OMG!!!!!! CONGRATS TO YOU RN. Well, I'm still waiting to get my results. Unfortunately I don't live in one of the states that offers Quick results, so I'm checking my BRN site a couple times a day. I'm so proud of you. Hopefully bu the end of the week I will be feeling just as good as you are right now. Once again congrats RN. You go girl!!!!!!!!!!
