experience or money?? Need opinions please!
I have a decision to make and need a few opinions from nurses that have been in the feild for a while. I am a new RN. I have worked at the hospital all thru nursing school on a basic medical floor. Mostly renal patients and patients that have the basics wrong with them. Nothing to thrilling or exciting. I have been offered a position on this floor at night on the weekends so its at the higher pay rate. However, I have interviewed on the surgical floor which is the floor that I have done my preceptorship on. I got offered a position but it is a lower pay rate because it is not a weekend position. I feel that I will learn alot more on the surgical floor but am really torn as to whether to give up the money. I keep asking my self is the experience of what I will learn on the surgical floor worth giving up the pay?? I also keep telling myself that I can always go into a higher pay rate position later on. I mean I am going to be in this career for along time. So I guess what I need to know from ya'll is what should I do in your opinion? Look forward to hearing back from you guys! Thanks!

The Pearson Education book is called NCLEX it is a blue and yellow book, I got it at Barnes and Nobels. It says right on the spine Pearson Education. But it is called NCLEX excellence prep. It has a CD that comes with it that has CAT test and 2000 question word bank. Look at Barnes and Nobels! Sorry thats all I can tell you! Wish I could be more helpful! The book is well worth getting it is why I passed my test! Hope you can find it! Let me know if ? I can be anymore of a help!

Passed second time!!!
Melainept: My advice is to get the Pearson Education book. It is written by Pearson Education the same people that write and give the NCLEX. The questions on the CD are set up just like the real NCLEX and also they are the closest questions I could find that are like the NCLEX. I have about a dozen NCLEX books including Kaplan. I even took the HURST before my first and second test! But this time all I studied was the Pearson book and did the CD over and over again till I felt good about answering the questions. It helped me alot when it came to the actual test! I am sure you will do great on your next test!!! Just keep telling yourself you can do it and I promise you will pass! Good luck to you! And just remember that everyone usually walks out feeling like they failed! Ths worse you feel usually the better you did! Good luck to you! Keep us posted on how it goes! Good luck!

Passed second time!!!
As a person who joined this site in hopes to find someone out there that felt the same way I did after taking NCLEX....I wanted to write something that would hopefully help someone else feel better about them selfs after taking the NCLEX. Well I graduated school in May of this year and sat for my boards in July. I took the HURST review and loved it! I studied my butt off, sure I was going to pass the thing. Well to my horror I took the whole test 265 questions which took me all of 5 hours. I felt good coming out and was sure that I passed. Well I didn't!!! I failed! I was crushed! So I revised my study plan and decided that I would take the 45 days in between test to study like crazy. Well I went to the book store bought the book NCLEX exam success that is written by Pearson Vue. I did that CD questions till I scored a 90% on them. I also made charts of things in the book that I had never seen before. Well I took my test again this past wednesday I went in hoping for around 100 questions and the damn thing shut off at 75!! I was so disappointed I was sure I failed! I was sick for the past two days thinking about how I had failed it again. But just a few hours ago I got my results and I passed!!!! Those of you out there that are waiting on results or have to take this thing again just keep your head up you can do it!!!! Think positive!! For those of you that are wondering the second time my test was completely different than the first. The second time I had alot of meds, teaching, priority questions. also alot of select all that apply. The first time was mostly med surg and priority. The best of luck to all!!!:balloons:

failed nclex a second time
I feel your pain on the failing the NCLEX. I myself failed the first time and as we speak am sitting here waiting for my results to post for my second test. This time I went to the book store and bought the NCLEX book that is written by Pearson Vue. It comes with an interactive CD that gives you a CAT test just like the NCLEX. I found it very helpful! You might want to try that! I am sorry to hear of your disappointing news! But don't give up and keep your head up high!

Already Failed NCLEX-RN Once & Just Took It Again
Alright guys..I so can relate to what you are saying. I took my boards for the first time in July and had the whole test. 265 questions that took me over 5 hours to finish. I found out I failed and was crushed!!! The test the first time seemed easy and I really walked out thinking I did okay. I started studying the Pearson book and CD right after I found out I failed and really felt sure that I was going to pass this time. I went today for round two of the NCLEX and was very positive going in. However, when I came out I was freaked out!!! I took my time and really thought every question through. The computer shut off at 75!!! Which scares me!!! I don't know how I can go from taking the whole test and failing to taking the minimal and passing. I really think I failed!!! I just don't know if I can go through it again. Its going to be a long 48 hours till results!! Good luck to all of you! I hope you did well!!!
