OT: Pacing the floor

I know this isn't "General Nursing" material, but AN is sort of like a second home to many of us, including me.

I was doing really well all day, waiting for the call from my hospital to come in and start my induction. However at 1545 they informed me that all the beds were full and they would call me in the next few hours.

Now it is nearly 2000 and I am still waiting. Of course I am a FTM, overanalyzing RN, with too much time on her hands to Google for the past few weeks, which isn't helping.

I am trying very hard not to call back until after 2000 because I know how shift changes go, and I don't want to be that patient.

Sigh.

Pace, pace, pace.

Thanks for listening.

We all get a little crazy when pregnant...

Are you really overdue or experiencing any complications? I would try to get a hold of your OB and find out what to do.

What a long day for you. I imagine you are pacing the floor.

Take your nurse hat off right now:) I say that because I am guilty of doing the same. We get so worried about being a PIA. Call them and find out where you are in the line up. Keep us posted.

I called them. Still short on beds but will call me within the hour. I am just a week overdue, without complications, so if I have to wait another day it isn't a big deal. I just get really antsy when waiting for calls, kind of like when you might have the day off but are waiting for your boss to call and confirm!

Now I tasked myself with grabbing things I might need in addition to my bag, washing some laundry for more comfy pants, and getting cleaned up myself just in case. :)

They better call soon! You have a week old baby inside you :p best of luck!
