Online BSN-DNP Programs

The University of South Alabama offers both the pediatric acute care and pediatric primary care nurse practitioner options on-line. There are three on campus requirements.

There is the on campus program orientation prior to the start of the fall semester of the first year. When I attended this, it was three and one half days in length. Then there is a two day skills validation prior to starting the clinical component. The last on campus visit involves your presenting the results of your DNP residency project. This is the last year, just before the convocation.

Any reason why it has to be an entry level DNP program? There are a ton of MSN NP programs in indiana, that are online (so you won't have to pay out of state tuition). You do realize there is no requirement for you to be a DNP to be an NP?

I think all Advanced Practice Nursing degrees will eventually be entry level DNP in the next few years. I attended South Alabama and received my BS'N there and JUST sent in my application for the DNP program which is all online! I think with graduate school the tuition is the same whether in state or out of state...because the program is all online...I think...could be wrong.. @sycamorestudent

Way to go . I just got accepted into the bsn to dnp for adult gerontological primary care at fau in florida. My first two classes r online but ill have weekly in persons -. Good luck

Just got accepted to USA, Advance emergency acute caredual role. I am excited but at the same time, nervous after reading couple of reviews here. I got accepted at maryville university Missouri to start May 6th 2013 but it is BSN-MSn(FNP). I really like USA cos it is DNP and the tuition is reasonable but at the same time, i heard about them weeding out students. The application and acceptance protocol is outrageous and that makes me think about the actual program.

Ok, I have a question, I think I applied for th 11 semester for the fall but I really will like the 12 semester which is the full 4 year part-time program. I work ful time and I have lil children. I am excited but at the same time, nervous.

Again, I have 8 years med-surg and when I emailed the DNP co-ordinator, ahe told me that it wouldnt be a problem for me not to be accepted into the emergency {NP/FNP} acute care. Now on my acceptance letter, it daid that I have to do extra 120 clinical hours, so my question is, will they role off the 120 clinical hours if I transfer to emergency room? I already emailed them on friday of last week but have not heard from them. Help, somebody!!

Many schools have dropped the MSN program and only offer a BSN to DNP in anticipation, if the requirement every gets passed.

Personally, I would do the MSN and DNP programs separately. That way you can graduate sooner and practice while you get your DNP part-time.

Yea. I'm finding a few of the BSN-DNP programs I've looked at are like that; in that they offer a MSN partially through the program so that students can get licensed and continue the last remainder of their program.

A few if re schools I know do this are:

Frontier Nursing University [bSN to DNP in 2014]

USA: BSN to DNP

MUSC: BSN to DNP online ( total time to complete = 3 years)

Gonzaga offers several online nursing programs. I have not completely one myself but have heard wonderful things about the DNP program from my coworker. More info: online.gonzaga.edu

Have you looked into Rush U.? They have Peds with acute or primary care for the BSN-DNP program. This program bypasses the MSN totally and can be done 2 2/3 years FT or about 4 years PT. Which admission dates are you looking into? Rush U's has passed so you might consider them for Fall 2015 if possible, as their application to file for Fall 2014 was March 3rd. Peds primary, however, has a Spring entry for Jan 2015 and the application deadline is Aug. 4th. Good luck with your search.
