I'm 52yo. LPN. 18 yrs in pedies, 2 yrs in ER. 5 yrs off due to re-marriage, re-locating, (etc , aka re-finding myself). --husb thought I would be ok w/ not working. I terribly miss the ER, and where I am now, I need my RN to work anywhere in the hospital. so...how old is too old to go for my RN? wondering about retirement age for nurses and simply would appreciate any advice.

How old is too old? I'd say "dead." I'll be a few days shy of 50 when I finish my program next year.

Go for it! NOW! Before you are "too old." yikes~ :(

You're never too old!! If you want to do it and are physically able, that's all that matters. Good luck and welcome back to nursing.:flowersfo

Annienc,

52? You've got to be joking! You're just a kid! I'm 62 and taking prereq's for second degree BSN programs up here in Michigan. Can't wait to retire from the university and get my new career started.

We may be "old" but we ain't dead yet!!!

You're just a kid!!! I finished this past December at 57 and am presently working in Child psych and lovin it!!! Go for it!!! Good luck

When you can't remeber the question you posted!

How about 108? Seriously, if you are in good health and have the desire to keep on , then o for it. 52 is the new 30!

Retirement age of my office RN's is 72+. So if you show up with a new license at 70, I'll still hire you!

Think about how many more years you expect to work. That will help you decide if the time spent getting your RN is worth the investment.

I say Go For It!

Best of luck to you!

Girl in my class was 67, lpn all her career and just wanted to be an RN before she retired.

And I worked with a nursing "Tech" going for his BSN after he retired as a full Col. at the Pentagon.

I'm 62 and just been put on mandatory retired status and wish I could be out there in the pits with the rest of you.
