Nursing schools that don't require HS foreign language?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello nurses! :) I was wondering if you guys knew of any nursing schools anywhere in the US that don't require HS foreign language as one of their requirements to be admitted or are lenient on it. I'm in my senior year and had a change of heart and barely decided I wanted to go to college and it is too late to get those foreign language requirements in. Thank you for any help :)

I am in Texas and I haven't seen that as one of the requirements for schools down here.

PP is correct. This is not a requirement in TX.

I've only seen it as a requirement for BSNs here in Oregon, the local ADN program didn't have a language requirement.

Same in CA. Only needed for BSN.

No language requirement for my ASN program in New York!

Specializes in Hospitalist Medicine.

No foreign language required for ADN or BSN in Michigan, however, many people use foreign language to fulfill humanities requirements for their degrees.

I've never encountered a program that required foreign language.

Here on the west coast pretty much any undergraduate program (nursing or otherwise) requires foreign language, either 2 years in high school or 2 quarters in college.

My ADN and BSN programs in Wisconsin didn't require any foreign language. I also got into a top 10 graduate nursing school and I still don't know a foreign language. I don't know where you're from OP but if you're in an area that has a lot of immigrants maybe that's part of it. I will add that it will definitely make you more desirable to employers if you know a second language that is common in your area so even if you get into college without it, try to take a couple classes and learn one. I wish I had done that.

The college I go to in Florida did not require it for the ASN program (to get your RN) however many colleges here require 2 foreign languages for your BSN. I found a school () that does not, thankfully!
