Not happy with grade.

Most programs only require a C or better in prerequisites, though some require a B. You should be fine with a 77%, but you can always retake it if you want to try to improve your grade.

FWIW, I'm an A student and got a B in both A&P I and A&P II... 89.x% both times. All of my other prereqs are A's. A&P is not easy!

That all depends on how competitive the program that you are applying is. Many people retake classes that they got a C or B in to raise their GPA to be more competitive. If you think that you did the best you could, then it is a waste of money to retake a class and get another C.

It does depend on how competitive the program is. Some take Cs as the minimum grade while others prefer Bs. Just keep in mind that if you decide to retake it that some schools won't look at the repeated course grade since a C is a passing grade.

I don't think you're being hard enough on yourself. Everything you see in A&P 1-3 will be back again. The last time I counted it up, I repeated all the same content from A&P six times through nursing school. If I had any idea how important it would be for me to master the content in that class the first time around I would have studied twice as much instead of slacking off at three hours a day, seven days a week.

Studying that material for the test is not enough. I recommend that you think about your A&P classes as essential foundational education for the medical profession.

You'll see all that material again in your med/surg or pathophys classes four times. If you learn it the first time you don't have to relearn it in every subsequent class. You'll go over it again in pharmacology. If you go on in your education, you'll go over it all again in advanced assessment, advanced physiology, advanced pharmacology, psychopharmacology, and every clinical hour from then on.

It's very much worth it to study that material to the finest granularity of detail. I wish somebody would have told me at the time how important it was.

I took A & P 1 in a Maymester and got a C. Took A & P 2 in a regular semester and got an A. I just finished my first year of the ADN program. Go see your nursing advisor and do whatever she recommends. Good luck!

Also look at how the schools you want to admit view grades. My school had started an admitting policy of points and only grades A and Bs would get you points. They took the first anatomy grade only.

A lot of people in my college get inside the Nursing program with C's in Anatomy. In all honesty, I would try to get an A in A&P II or at least a B. The higher your grade is, the more points you get and that means you will have more of a chance of being accepted. (I think all nursing students have the point system, not sure). But overall, average is good but it COULD be better.

A&P is so difficult. My professor is known for being very detailed and tough on grading. I just finished 102 and am waiting on my grade. So I feel your pain! I think it just depends on where you live as to what grades you need to get. Have you contacted the school where you are going to apply and ask what grades are needed to get in? Here the competition is fierce. 4.0 is really the meal ticket so to say. Anything under and you may not get a spot. It's crazy!!

How is microbiology? I was going to take it in the summer, but changed my mind, I have been going to school non-stop now and only have 2 classes left before I can apply. I decided not to kill my self this summer and not take any classes. So in the fall I will be taking A&P2 and microbiology. I don't know if that is a mistake, but I have been so stressed out, I really feel I need this break. I also work full time.
