What is night shift like? At the nursing home I'm looking at there are 64 beds. They have: 2 full time RN's, 28 CNA's, 8 LPN/LVN, 6 full time administrators. As well as an occupational therapist, physical therapist, etc.
Is that good or bad?

Do you mean all these are on night shift?

What do you actually have on your shift? Our night shift is not that bad, as long as everyone shows up and nothing goes wrong. If something comes up it can be a rough night.

When I used to work at a 62 bed facility night shift had one nurse and two CNA's!
Wow! We have 2 nurses, and 3 cna's for about 60 residents. More so because they are so spread out, I think.

BiologyNerd,
Are you sure this is a nursing home?, or is someone lying to you?, If yes, it is a nursing home, then maybe it serves the stars and the ex-American presidents and senators.
The nursing home that I use to work had 200 beds, 1 RN supervisor, 5LPNs, 8-10 CNAs. This is evening shift and is considered to be a good place to work because of the staffing.

Six full time administrators, no matter how many beds would raise a red flag for me!

Why does it have 6 fulltime administrators? My place has one and it's a big place?

I work the night shift at a nursing home, from 10pm to 6am.
The facility accomodates 130 beds. I must care for nearly 70 patients by myself.

I work part-time on night shift 6p to 6a and care for 56 residents with 4 CNA's (if the all show up). My hall includes the locked unit. The other nurse has about 50 or so residents and has 3 CNA's. At any given time, we'll have 10 to 15 people up and wandering, watching TV, or just hanging out at the nurses station. NEVER A DULL MOMENT!
