NET test

Does anyone know of any on line prep tests for the NET or a good site to order them or test guides? I have purchased the NET study guide from the college book store, but, was looking to take some more practice tests because it has been sooo many years since I have been in college.

Thanks!!

Here's one practice test: http://www.testprepreview.com/nursing_practice.htm

For some reason, though, it has some science and geometry questions on there. There aren't any of those on the NET test, at least, not when I took it last semester (even their breakdown says there aren't) so I would just skip that section...)

Oh, and a general review of basic math (fractions, percentages and basic algebra) is always a good idea. If you have any old math textbooks, I'd suggest skimming through them.

Don't worry too much about it! It is long, and if you have to do the written exam, it seems like it lasts forever...but it isn't that difficult. Good luck!

Thanks,

I will let you know how I do. I am signed up for early August. I am comfortable with the math, but not the reading. I have heard that the test is harder for reading than in the study guide, although the math seems to be just like the samples in the guide. I will try the test from the site you included and thanks again!

hi, this is a little off topic but i was wondering who the author was of the net study guide book that you purchased. I need the net study guide by i think the last name of the author is frost? I borrowed a book and my 3 year old got at it and distroyed it and i have been looking for it like crazy. If its the same, by any chance would you be able to get the phone number for the book store you ordered it from... I just took the test last friday and i can tell you that there seemed to be alot of fractions also fractions in algerbra problems. i basically studied that net study guide and i passed there was one other book that ill try to get the name for you it has alot more practice problems. please let us know how you do and Good luck!!

The authors are Michael D. Frost, PhD and Mitchell D. Jarvis, BSCS, BSM. The actual name of the book is Study Guide for The NET, The HOBET and The HELP Entrance Tests. I bought it at the college book store and I have also seen it on ebay. I have been told that most book store carry it as well. Hope you find it!

I just took the NET test a few weeks ago and passed. The reading part was tricky for me. I took the practice tests but did not time myself. Please make sure you time yourself and pace yourself. I wore a stopwatch to the test. You only have about 30 minutes and it goes by fast. There were 3 essays to read and answer questions. I only had 15 minutes left to do the last two. I got them done but barely. Colleen

The study guide includes two practice tests and is a pretty good representation of what will be on the test.

I'm getting a proctor so I can take the NET exam in southern California because they don't offer it around here. Is anyone else in SoCal that is interested in splitting the cost of hiring a proctor?

I took the NET on June 9. I too used the NET study guide by Frost that you have purchased. The math portion is very much like that in the study guide. HOWEVER....the reading portion was much harder on the actual test than in the book. I tested myself using the study guide and got 100% each time on the reading portion. On the real test I got 54% on the reading portion! I'm not telling you this to scare you or in any way discourage you. YOU CAN DO IT! Just make sure you check your time on the reading portion and take it seriously. It's not just a comprehension quiz, it's about inferences and predicting the outcome. The idea someone mentioned about wearing a stopwatch to the exam was excellent! Wish I had thought of that. Believe me, I'm one who has always done well in English/reading courses, so for me to say it was tough....it really was. But just because something is hard doesn't mean it's not possible to accomplish. It just means you have to try harder! I'm taking the test again but will focus more on the reading this time. Best wishes to you!

I have a question about the net test. When should you take it? I'm just starting my pre-reqs this fall. Are there any classes you should take before taking it? How long are the scores good for? I'm not applying to nursing school until fall 2007. thanks!

Hi NursePink,

The NET test was required for entrance into the nursing program here. I don't really think you will need any classes to prepare for it. The NET study guide book from amazon.com is helpful for a math review. It has practice tests in the back of the book to help you see what you need to work on. The reading part you just really need to watch your time on. I think it was only 30 minutes and that goes by super fast. A lot of the people taking the test said they didn't get to finish it. Wear a stopwatch so you know how much time you have left. (someone on here said they did that and it's a great idea). Does your school require the NET? If so, they should tell you when you need to take it.

I didn't know that there are study guides for the NET test. I took a nursing readiness class while waiting to get into the nursing program and we took the test without any pre warning. It is common sense stuff. The reading is a bit odd as it is random stuff you have to comprehend. At our school you take the net a week before you enter the program if you haven't taken it prior. It is straight math that you caluclate on scratch paper.
