I took the nclex-pn today, and I have heard about the test shutting off at 85 is not a bad thing. but, for some reason when that screen went gray i was like WHAT? I felt cheated and stupid because the questions were so hard, or i had a mental block. I just need some kind of reassurance. thanks

Well, congratulations on having taken the test. You can breathe for a little while until you get your results. Good luck.

Everyone feels that way. Just be glad you don't have to wait 2 months for the results any more.

I took the NCLEX-PN Tuesday! I felt the same as you at first-I must have jumped in my seat a bit when the screen went blank! I wasn't looking at each number, but had an idea of where I was. My test ended before 90Q, but not sure if 85 or 89! I thought the exam was SO tough...it turns out thinking it was tough was a GOOD thing, as the questions get tougher as you answer them correctly! I PASSED (payed to get VUE results this afternoon!). I HOPE YOU PASSED!

I took the NCLEX a second time yesterday after failing last time (I had 81 questions and felt horrible afterwards). But hilariously, I sat through all 265 questions this time (felt a lot better) and the jury is still out.
What I found was that the second time around, I was much more confident because I knew exactly what Pearson required of me. And I actually found myself not studying more in terms of volume but a lot smarter. Particular questions asking "priority" or "first" and "symptoms" questions seemed more common sense.
So, worst case scenario, even if you don't pass, the second time will totally be in your favor. :)
The pass rate for first-time testers in the first quarter '09 was 88 percent, while the pass rate for repeat testers was 50 percent.
Sorry, to clarify, I wasn't really referring to statistical favor; it was more the mindset and having not to worry about the unknown, like testing site logistics, etc.

Try to relax now, the exam is done and stressing now won't change any results. Good luck

I know NCLEX-PN was the worst test I've taken in my life and I've never felt as bad after taking a test as I did with this test. I guess I was overwhelmed bcause this test it was determines if you can become a nurse not what type of nurse you will be. Because we've made it through school, worked hard at our clinicals and eventually graduated. It seems that we should have an NCLEX like test to test out of school and be able to graduate as a nurse as opposed to the standard way. It can be distressing to someone who does really well in school and fail this test to only beat themselves up and doubt all of their achievements. Good luck to all that take this test and many blessings in your career.
well its official i passed. My name and license is on the board but it says my license expires in like three months, what does that mean.
Some states have a set time when all RN or PN licenses expire. This I think is what is happening here. Means in 3 months you need to renew your license
Congrats on passing
