NCLEX shut off at 75,

So I took the NCLEX today. I have done nothing but study the past few weeks and I have made myself sick with anxiety about it. I have always done very well in school, nursing school, using Kaplan, etc. I knew by question 10 that I was well below the passing line due to the basic questions that I kept getting. Although they were basic, those were not the types of questions I had prepared for or studied for previously. My test stopped at 75 questions and I went into complete panic mode. The lady who logged me out of my test saw the fear in my eyes and I just started crying right there. It was horrendous. I cried all the way home and called my parents to tell them that I failed.

I tried the Pearson Vue Trick and it did not let me register. It said something along the lines of "you have recently registered for this exam. You are unable to register again at this time," etc. I know that this is supposed to be an indication that you have passed the exam. But all dramatics aside, the likelihood of me having passed after that is slim to none.

My question is, has anyone else received the good pop up but still failed the exam?

Try this...nearly 90% of US educated nurses pass the NCLEX first attempt.

It's nearly impossible unless you are an expert in educational pedagogy and Blooms Taxonomy to determine with certainty what is a higher cognitive level question and what his a lower cognitive level question. It's most definitely not determined by content or question type. Don't make yourself crazy now trying to guess.

Take a breath relax and know the odds of passing are in your favor.

exactly what she said! :)

I passed with 76 questions. It happens!

And don't do that silly PVT.

Theres a million threads like this. Just be patient and wait. You will get your results soon enough.

If your state participates in quick results pay for those. Just relax until then. :)

I bet you did really well. 8 out of 10 people who challenge the exam generally pass. Don't sweat it too much. Just wait the 48 hours and pay the $7.95 and then move on with your career. You got this. Hang on!

You actually have a lot of things on your side here, PVT pass result and minimum question cut off (I heard you have to be failing really really bad to be cut off that early if you failed).

I just would breath and wait until your quick results come through.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, OP didn't challenge the exam; she passed a nursing program so was eligible to take it. Challenging it means you did not qualify by normal means, but used an alternative "loophole" to get in. Those still exist.

At any rate, chances are not 8 out of 10, it's at or just above 90% at last go-round, so VERY good odds! :D

I suspect we'll see the good news posted soon.

Thank you all for your encouraging words. I'm still about 85% sure that I did not pass. I don't know what challenging the exam consists of, but I did the accredited nursing school thing and received my BSN and then was eligible to sit for the NCLEX. I will update everyone when I pay for the unofficial results tomorrow afternoon!!

Dear op

Most people feel like they failed when they walk out of the nclex. But chances are you passed.

I am very excited and shocked to announce that I passed my NCLEX! Thank you all for the encouragement. It's tough to believe that it is possible until you actually see the 'PASS' under your results.
