MEPN 2015

Thought I would get this started...

Who is applying for UCSF MEPN Program currently?

Also not accepted. Good luck to everyone!

I didn't make it for psych. :(((

Looks like I'm Columbia bound. This will be a big move from the bay area!

I'm sorry to hear that some of you all didn't get in... I'm sure there are wonderful things in all of your futures!

@viksss - I'm sorry you didn't get in, know that you gave an incredibly competitive application that gave UCSF reason to interview you. Don't give up hope and consider reapplying next year.

On on other news I am happy to take over admin of the Facebook group of you want. I'll message you on there.

Have any FNP applicants heard back yet?

I didn't get accepted into the nurse-midwifery specialty. As much as I expected this outcome, it is still really rough.

I feel really overwhelmed by the task of applying again. What do I do to make myself a more attractive candidate between now and September? I envision having to turn my life upside down, quitting my job, focusing on volunteering or somehow getting a lower paying job that is somehow tangentially closer to the field. I dont have a partner or family that supports me, I envision having to move out of my apartment, wondering how I'll pay bills. It is a lot to feel all at once and scary as hell. Especially since there is no guarantee I'll ever get accepted.

Anyone have any words of wisdom or advice?

in exactly the same boat. didn't apply anywhere else.

next year, if i do decide to apply, then i'll apply to more schools

Don't give up! You don't have to upheave your life, just make a few key changes.

I also want to congratulate all those that got accepted, as well as those that didnt. You've all worked so hard to get here.

I also didn't make it for FNP. Bummer.

@KubelkoBondy, if you are curious as to the reasons why you weren't admitted or want to know how to improve for next year, you can call XX and ask him to share what he knows about the decision. I called XX this morning to ask if he could tell me the reasons why I wasn't admitted so that I would know if I apply again next year. He told me that I was one of a few that they wanted to "counsel" and have follow up conversations with because we were very close, but were ultimately beat out by people with better credentials. He said it was particularly tough for the FNP specialty because it is so impacted and there are so many qualified applicants.

I am almost in the same boat as you, and know that it is incredibly scary and difficult. I'm sure I've had almost all of the same thoughts you had but I'm planning to apply again next year, so I'd be happy to share/discuss if you'd like. Shoot me a PM.

I think I will call him and ask too, out of curiosity, because this is my 2nd year in a row applying. Last year, I only applied to UCSF but luckily this year I applied to other schools as well so I'll just have to move out of state. Either way, I'm pretty devastated about UCSF...

I was wait listed for FNP, any one know of the likelihood I might get in or if it is possible to improve my position on the list?
