I actually purchased it and really like it so far. The military time is easy to see, it's luminous, and it has the seconds hand. It's also really flat so it won't get caught on anything.

If I knew 6 months ago what I know now... this is what I would have done before being accepted to RN school.

a) get my titers (MMR + varicella), 2 TB tests (4 trips to Dr) and retain the documentation to submit to MDC

b) if I did not have Hep B immunity, start the Hep B vaccines (3 shots over 6 months then a titer to prove immunity)

b) line up a Dr to do a simple/quick physical (get a quote - should be $35-$50)

c) line up a lab to do my 5 panel drug test (get quotes - should be $40). Know that one copy needs to be in a sealed envelope to be submitted to MDC. Might want a 2nd copy for your Dr doing the physical and/or yourself.

d) once accepted into RN school ... immediately do the background check. I did mine 4 weeks ago and just got the results by email a couple days ago.

All the stuff I had little time to do --- while taking challenging classes. It would have been nice to have known about this in advance so less stress.

There is still a 4-page health document that has to be completed by the Dr. doing the physical. They are to review the titers, vaccines, drug test paperwork, etc, & fill in that info on the health document that gets submitted to MDC. And MD/DO/ARNP is to sign this document. I don't think a DC (chiropractor) is acceptable. There was a chiropractor advertising "physicals" but I opted not to try that route because I was concerned about whether or not it would be acceptable.

I was very glad I went to a company that was accustomed to doing the whole enchilada. It made it easier on me... even though I still had to dot their I's and cross their T's and pay a BIT more.

I'm hoping this is helpful to you two.

For after acceptance to RN school tests... (titers, vaccines, drug test, physical) this is the one I used. With little time to complete all the tasks properly, I was glad they were familiar with the process (papers, not having to special order vaccines, tests, etc). They say they do this frequently.

My friend suggested doing TDP vaccine, too.

(tetorifice, diptheria, pertussis).

I will probably do it once I survive the classes I'm taking this 6 weeks.

I just wanted to know if any of you asked or heard during orientation whether it is permitted or not to use PDAs or Ipods during clinicals? :)

I didn't ask and I didn't hear anyone ask either. However, I heard a 2nd semester nursing student saying that he used his iphone during clinicals. He was explaining how he uses it there and what programs he recommends. So, I would guess that it is up to your preceptor(?) and the location where you're at. Just like Violet from orientation said some teachers make a bigger deal of the all-white shoes than others. I, for one, invested in an iTouch - hopefully I'll get to use it! :)

Has anyone been registered yet? I just received my background confirmation email from MDC. I already know what classes I want, but I'm not sure what to do next. When i looked at the open class search, I didnt see many of the skills labs or clinicals left for full time...

I received mine too but haven't heard anything about registration. I called and they said to just keep checking my schedule for fall because they are going to enroll us. :hdvwl:
