MDC Fall 2011 =)

Hi guys! Who else is applying for MDC Fall 2011?

I am also applying for FIU-- I was accepted last year to MDC but for financial and personal reasons could not attend. :'( Who else will be applying to Generic FT? Please state what program you will be applying to!

I will be taking the TEAS sometime in March, in which I will also be taking the HESI A2 for FIU. So I might as well be studying for both, lol. Anybody taken the TEAS at MDC? Share your experiences here! :) I will be using a general book for nursing school entrance exams... it's by Barron... and I will be studying my math from a nursing calculation book, and my sciences from my anatomy, biology, and other notes. Is it true there is geology on the exam? How irrelevant... lol

Well good luck to us all! :heartbeat

Is anyone else scheduled for the CPR class tomorrow at medical campus? I will be there and am hoping someone else from our thread will be there too. :)

Has anyone heard anything from financial aid?

Yes I have received what I am offered for my Pell grant... Am I the only one super stressed out about this next year and a half coming up?...really questioning whether I can get through this...I am so nervous!

No you are not the only one. I am sooo nervoous too! But, if we find other people to study with and be a support group for each other, I think we will be fine. That's why this thread got started - so we could "meet" each other before orientation and begin building relationships.:)

GMarie7,

Thank you for your response. It definitely gives me an idea of what to expect. I have to have both hands and middle fingers (trigger fingers) operated on, but, obviously, I will do the right hand first as it's my dominant hand. Did you do surgery on both hands within a short span of time? I need to do my left hand too, but I guess I have to wait until nursing school is finished.

Hi Pixiemom: I did my R hand first. My L hand did not have a problem 2 years later. If you have someone to bath you and feed you for the first couple of days, you can do both and get it over with. It depends on your strength recuperating from pain and you will not be able to use your hands until they remove the stiches. Then you will get a splint. Full recovery is about 1 month. Good Luck!

I'd like to know who finally (since I think the list is already complete) got accepted to the part-time program this fall. It'll be a great pleasure to start interacting with you all already to discuss how we'll be working side by side during nursing school. Reply by just typing your username. I'll start:

Coren, to you and all the other haters who apparently through their words claim 'it isn't fair,' let me tell you that life itself isn't fair. So deal with it. If you're in, I'm happy for you because we'll be in nursing school together and it'll be fun. If not, keep trying. This to me is a dream and I have worked hard to get here... without any help and paying for school myself. Don't judge a book by its cover.

So you all know, I have hell of grades and had gotten accepted last year but then they took me out the program because MAC 1105 kicked in in the pre-requisites and I had to take it- like someone earlier mention on the post. Nursing isn't about getting in or making the money afterwards. It is about dedication, persistence, responsibility and caring for others. Read and listen, I met the criteria and like many of you I've also been worried to get in until it finally happened. So, yes, good for me! Sorry for those who didn't get in. If you want to go for nursing because it's in you, then I encourage you to continue fighting for what you want and do it.

I agree, life isn't fair. That being said, I can only imagine the frustration of being told that a selection system works a particular way, only to find out that someone who didn't meet the requirements as closely received admission instead. I would imagine anyone in that situation would feel anger and disappointment, because all of us are putting our time, energy, and emotions into this. I'm sure whatever the outcome, Coren will continue to work towards acceptance into a program and becoming a nurse, either now or in the future.
