Most agency nurses are required to have their own , so, since I do that sort of work on the side, I hae to be sure that my malpractice is active. In spite of that, I still prefer to have my own, because this is a very litigious society that looks for any opportunity to take the pants off of caretakers.

This worries me a bit... Maybe it's a difference of opinion, but most people have told me NOT to get because it makes you more of a target to be sued individually. Any thoughts?

I figure, if somebody wants to sue, they will sue regardless of whether or not you have insurance.

As for me, personally, the $100 a year I spend on thru NCO is worth every penny for my peace of mind. :snowflake:

People don't know before they sue you if you carry insurance. I would not work without it.

Nurse are becoming more and more a target for being sued. So yes, I carry insurance - NSO.

Yes, there are those that believe that you stand more of chance to get sued if it is known that you have insurance, but I would rather take that chance and CMA.

Thanks for the advice.....I am a new grad with a new job and just feel better about getting this insurance. I pray I will never need it, but better to have and not need, than need and not have.....

Specializes in SNF, home health.

I have NSO and have had it as a requirement from my employer. It's a nice peace of mind knowing I have that there IF I ever need it.
