LPN Cost..

Tuition 2900, Books around 900, equipment 250. Scrubs/uniforms were at the discretion of the student. Different tastes and budgets. But we all had at least four sets with the only guidelines being solid colours only.

It all depends on if you are going to a community college or a private/trade school. I have heard that a CC can be like 2-3k total....I am going to be paying around 18-20k when I am done with school....I am going to a private school*this is pretty average for a private/trade school

I attended a private LVN program in the Los Angeles area in 2004 and 2005. The total cost, everything included, was $19,995. Many people will say that I paid a great deal of money, but it was worth it to be in and out of school within 1 year with no waiting lists.

I have to agree! I get told ALL the time that I am "over paying" but will be out of school & working next time next year....give or take a few weeks;) I just wasnt able to sit on a waiting list for 2-3 years

I'm attending a private, for profit school, which is what I assume your school is. My school charges $4,500 a quarter, books are included as they "rent" them to you. We do get to keep a few but most go back at the end of the quarter.

We pay for our scrubs & polo shirt. The school supplies the lab jacket. They pay for our NCLEX registration.

Now the CC down the road only charges about $4,500 for the full year but that doesn't include uniforms, books, NCLEX registration, and other incidental expenses. I've been told that the final cost is about half what I pay BUT they have a 18 month waiting list and if a personis so inclined, they can start classes at my school in January.

For me, the extra expense is worth not having the frustrationof waiting 18 months.

For the LVN program I am in, which includes a pre req class on basic biology, a 14 month LVN program, all books, scrubs (2 sets), stethoscope, BP Cuff, and pen light, the total cost was $21800. This is in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I had applied to two different schools when I first decided I wanted to be an lpn; first school was 3600, and the school I ended up going to was 4500 (this was a private institution, they didn’t accept any form of finacial aide other than WIA through the local unemployment office.)

And from my understanding, to get approved for fin aid, your program must be accreditted and approved by the state bon and nln. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, and also, both of these programs were in rural West Virginia (southern wv.)

What is WIA through the local unemployment office? My brother changed careers recently @ age 40 and the State of LA paid for his schooling through the unemployment office. Would this be the same thing? I have not had a chance to talk with him about this.

The campus is not too far from home, and our next several clinical rotations will be at a hospital 2 miles from my house. The cost is $25,000, which includes all books, 4 sets of scrubs, shoes, 2 lab coats, stethoscope, BP cuff, penlight. I think for this fee, shots should have been provided as we need several of them.

Ok so I'm in a One year LVN program at a Community College in San Antonio, Texas. MY tuition total for the three semesters is about 3500 books for my first semester totalled about 600, supplies about 100 and uniforms for the year about 200. So about $5,000.00 I also had no waiting list or any prereq's.

I would not have considered paying high tuition charges at a private school because I live in an area where there is a large number of community colleges to choose from. That's how I circumvented the waiting lists for LPN training.
