This is my situation - I am almost 34 years old. I previously completed 3/4 of an LPN program at a private tech school (the kind that whose credits dont transfer unfortunately) before i had some health issues and was forced to quit. Now that my health is doing better, I really wanted to finish the journey i started a few years ago by completing an RN degree. Unfortunately, where I live now, there are very few options as far as nursing programs go. I dont have any of the pre-reqs, I was originally hoping it would take me a year max to complete them (for me its just 6 classes), and then the 2 years for the nursing courses. Sadly the application deadline for the program falls in such a way that the earliest I would be able to even start the nursing program would be in 2 years...I will basically be sitting around for 8 months as I'm just barely going to miss the application deadline for fall 2010. It's mainly that long wait that feels unneccessary to me that frustrates me. I guess im feeling really discouraged..I really was not expecting for it to take minimum of 4 years to get a 2 year degree, especially after all the delays I've already had to endure. Is that an unheard of amount of time or is that reasonable? Should I try to find a different program much farther away from where I live or should I just stick it out? Thanks in advance for the support :)
