Information Please LPN to RN

Columbus State and OSU offer LPN to RN, I believe. I know for sure that COTC in Newark offers this and they start new nursing classes every Spring and Fall. Some of the classes you can take online and get out of the way before you are officially accepted into the program.

I'm agency and another agency nurse I worked with on New Year's Eve stated the same thing about the different scopes of practice between OH and KY. It amazes me how our nursing practice varies from state to state.

RETS school of nursing (in Dayton) was bought by Education Affiliates ... they are opening a school in Columbus, I believe it is up and running now. If you can't find any info you could look up RETS Tech School centerville ohio and i'm sure they can give you the information.

I am from the columbus area. marysville actually. recently moved to southern ohio. i start the lpn to rn transition program at the university of rio grande, ohio. i have been an lpn for 7 years and have spend just about all that time trying to figure out the quickest and simplist way to get my rn. (mind u i coulda had it done long ago...lolol)

there are only 2 colleges in ohio that have the quickest way that i'm aware of. (meaning that they don't require a bunch of stupid pre-req's AND don't have a waiting list from hell) one is clark state community college in springfield, ohio and the other is the university of rio grande, ohio.

i went to columbus state and took some pre-req's like english and such...but their nursing program requires entirely too many "stupid classes" as i call them and the waiting list is unreal!!! if anyone is planning on columbus state...ya might as well just go down the street to OSU and do the 5 years and get your BSN!!!

Excelsior is WAY, WAY, WAY too expensive!!!!! and the odds of forking out bunches of money and putting your books on the back burner for other important things in real life that come up is inevidable.

this is my advice to any lpn wanting their rn...go to rio grande!! only pre-req's u need are english comp I & II, speech, and intro to sociology (no math or algebra needed...they teach u the pharm. math they want u to learn in the 1st semester). (take those pre-req's online at columbus state...easy) then transfer them to rio grande. they have an online program that called " Advanced Placement Track LPN to RN Transition". everything is done online and u go to clinical 1 day a week.

i start this program in the morning myself...so wish me luck!! its taken me 7 years to get to this point!! took me so long because i just can't grasp algebra! i can do a drug calc. and a drip rate...but don't ask me how to get a+b to equal c. so, if anyone has a math issue like i do...go to rio grande!!!

I would like more info on the rio grande program (don't even know where it is but am interested) My thoughts on pre reqs go with yours after 21 years in the buisness.Was thinking excelsior due to work etc but if I can do it on line n only have to go to class one day a week might be doable.Please either e mail me the info or give me a phone number or website.Thanks so much:)

Hello! Sinclair community college offers a bridge program. They say it is # 2 in the country for nursing school. It has a bad reputation for their waiting list, but as an LPN after you complete your prereqs like A&P, etc. you get right into the program and do not have to wait. All in all, it should take you 2-3 yrs depending upon your status as full or part time and how many prereqs you already have completed. It is located in Downtown Dayton, OH.

How are your classes going at rio grande. I'm thinking about transferring there. I was also wondering the time fram you are looking at until you are an RN. I am finishing up my 1st year of RN pre-req's, and I begin a LPN program this summer. I'd like to bridge over & I'm in the Columbus area.

I do NOT recommend going to Columbus State to get your RN. I graduated from their LPN program in December. As I went thru my clinicals, I heard nothing but bad things about the RN program from nurses who had worked with Columbus State RN students/instructors and it was ALL totally negative.

The people who work with the RN program don't WANT LPNs in their program. They have come right out and said that and they are making it as difficult as can be for anyone who wants to become an RN. My instructors have been trying to work with them but they have made it very difficult. Several of my fellow grads were told point blank "We don't want you in this program" by advisors. There is a long wait list now.

I am looking at getting my RN thru College Network. It comes from Excelsior, as has been mentioned. The cost, for me, is going to be about $5000 or so. I only need the 6 RN classes. Nothing else.

But I may look at the RIO GRANDE program. THe previous poster got me interested in checking out that program. But really, whatever you decide, don't do Columbus State.

you do not need to pay college network to do excelsior.

UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE.It is 5 semesters. 1.5 years of actual class work but is essentially 2 years with the breaks you have. I attempted to see if I could get done any faster...no luck. That is the way the program transitions. If I were you I would take any courses(ie,english 1-2,sociology,speech) before starting the program. It gets hectic at the end of the program and a few time through the program you have some project that you have to do on your own. It just makes it easier when that is all you have to concentrate on

OSU does not offer an LPN to RN program. Columbus State does, as does COTC.

There was an LPN in my class at OSU. She took all the classes that the generic students did.
