  1. I have my app. in at one of the prisons here in ohio. my question is what is the interview like? is it a panel interview with several people staring you down asking about what you would do if an inmate falls out in the yard with a seizure? i just kinda want to get an idea of what i'm in store for when they call me. any input regardless of whether its ohio or not would be appreciated. thank you.
  2. from southern ohio, correctional nurse, taking lpn to rn transitition currently.
  3. I am from the columbus area. marysville actually. recently moved to southern ohio. i start the lpn to rn transition program at the university of rio grande, ohio. i have been an lpn for 7 years and have spend just about all that time trying to figure out the quickest and simplist way to get my rn. (mind u i coulda had it done long ago...lolol) there are only 2 colleges in ohio that have the quickest way that i'm aware of. (meaning that they don't require a bunch of stupid pre-req's AND don't have a waiting list from hell) one is clark state community college in springfield, ohio and the other is the university of rio grande, ohio. i went to columbus state and took some pre-req's like english and such...but their nursing program requires entirely too many "stupid classes" as i call them and the waiting list is unreal!!! if anyone is planning on columbus state...ya might as well just go down the street to OSU and do the 5 years and get your BSN!!! Excelsior is WAY, WAY, WAY too expensive!!!!! and the odds of forking out bunches of money and putting your books on the back burner for other important things in real life that come up is inevidable. this is my advice to any lpn wanting their rn...go to rio grande!! only pre-req's u need are english comp I & II, speech, and intro to sociology (no math or algebra needed...they teach u the pharm. math they want u to learn in the 1st semester). (take those pre-req's online at columbus state...easy) then transfer them to rio grande. they have an online program that called " Advanced Placement Track LPN to RN Transition". everything is done online and u go to clinical 1 day a week. i start this program in the morning myself...so wish me luck!! its taken me 7 years to get to this point!! took me so long because i just can't grasp algebra! i can do a drug calc. and a drip rate...but don't ask me how to get a+b to equal c. so, if anyone has a math issue like i do...go to rio grande!!!
  4. Hello Everyone. Enrolled in the Advanced Placement Track LPN to RN Transition Online Program at the University of Rio Grande, Ohio. Classes start in the morning! Its taken me 7 years to get to this day :yelclap:. Best of luck to everyone who's already doin it!
  5. I'm an LPN w/IV of 6 years. I have been working on my RN part-time for quite awhile. I am currently on a waiting list to complete the 'clinical portion' to get my RN (FYI, i should start in summer 2007). and i just don't want to sit around and wait on that day to get here, i'm always starved for input. my question is...an lpn can complete the forensic nursing and the SANE programs at UC Riverside Extension Online as they take LPN's. but in order to become "Certified" by IAFN I must be an RN. if that's the case, how is this going to benefit me at this time? if I complete the FN cert. and/or the SANE cert. prior to receiving my RN can I work as a FNE or a SANE without the IAFN recognized cert? nothing personal to all you RN's out there but as an LPN, I feel like a second class citizen.:angryfire As far as I can tell, there are 3 differences between an LPN w/IV and an RN: care plans, pushing meds and the paycheck. You go RN'S!! I'm getting mine!:mortarboard:
  6. My thought is, if your a patient in any type of nursing facility, pubic shaving is the least of your problems.
