Alright, here it comes......

I am almost done with my psychology based statistics class and I have learned NOTHING. I have an A in the course, but I feel like I am BSing my way through and I can't motivate myself to learn this stuff. I am usually a very good student, I don't know why I can't focus. Can someone give me some perspective that might make learning this CR** a little easier to choke down? I mean really, what are we going to use this for?

Thanks. I'm planning on taking statistics next semester and you're not making me feel any better about it. I've heard nothing good about it. But it must be an important course. :)

Personally I thought statistics was fun. But then again, I'm kind of a geek...

i think i agree with the previous poster. i have yet to take stats... i can take it anytime during nursing school. but i'm not looking forward to it at all.

if you don't like statistics then you just don't like it! i don't think you need to force yourself to love it. you have an a in the course...that says a lot right there. if i were you i'd be happy about it and i'd keep on moving!

btw, it is commendable you want to really understand and appreciate this course.

I'm half way thru my online statistics course & I too hate it. It makes no sense to me. i can do the work & give them an answer, but I'm not really learning it. Thankfully only 2 tests left.

It does really stink though. It's confusing to me. Maybe taking it online was not a good idea. it might hve made more sense if I had a teacher lecturing on the material.

I took Statistics last fall and I really enjoyed it. The graphing calculator was a great tool to use for that course.

I took 2 semesters of Econmic Sadistics with a lecturer, and believe me, you are NOT missing anything. Either you love it or hate it. You will however, be able to have an eduated understanding of all those statistics touted to support whatever someone is trying to support. Margin of Error, boy I get THAT now!

Psychology based statistics course? Could you tell me what that is.

I'm taking a regular statistics course now (final next week). It's ok. Can't say that I like it or don't. I always do well in math. Just don't want a job where that's all I do. :chuckle

Well,

There are so many things that relate to understanding the basics of stats. Do you know the term evidence based practice? The basis of that is research. Research has statistics. Statistics can be manipulated. You need to understand the basics of stats, so you can see if the research is good and then if you want to adopt the suggestions into your practice. Is that enough motivation? If not, play the game and get through it...... Good luck,

I'm taking a six week Stat course (final is in 6 days) and I'm all over the place with it. I've been averaging a B, but have received 2 100%, 1 70%, etc. I guess that means I really just don't know what I'm doing?

Most of the problem is the fast pace, but other factors are the horrible textbook with all kinds of errors even in its sixth edition, and my instructor will fail you on a test for using the wrong symbol (population sigma for sample "s".) Argh. I'll get a B in this class, which is a slight bruise to my ego, but at this point, I'm just thankful it is over in a week and I'm passing.

I hated statistics. I did what I had to do to get an A, but i can't really say I learned anything.
