How many programs/schools are you applying to?

Published

I was just wondering how many programs/schools you guys were planning on applying to once you are (almost)done with all your prerequisites?

I thought it was normal to apply to just a few (2-3), but after realizing how COMPETITIVE ABSN/MSN programs are...I'm panicking!!! Do i have to apply to 30 to have a chance at being accepted???

But it's kind of a dilemma, because if i COULD i'd apply to a lot but applications fees are expensive....

How many are you applying to??

I'll have finished the prerequisites for my top pick at the end of spring 2009. I will apply to it but continue taking classes that are prerequisites for the other local schools (some have different requirements than others) and apply to those as well. When I am done with those if I still have not been accepted i will complete my Bachelor's degree in business and then apply for the local accelerated programs. In essence, I will apply as much as need be and keep moving forward until I get in.

If you have excellent grades you should have nothing to worry about. If you have mediocre grades (by nursing school admission criterion, which would be less than a 3.7 or so) then plan to retake classes to get As in them as you continue to apply. If you want it bad enough you will get in.

I applied to 23 schools. Got denied from 11 programs & accepted into 6, &the other schools I have incomplete app.s. The reason Y they R incomplete is b/c I had already gotten into 6 programs & I chose the best one. Yea I know that app. fees are expensive I have spent $240 on app fees for 10 schools &what the big bummer is that the school that I am going to attend DOES NOT require an app.fee. If only I had applied to that school first I would've saved $240. My advice to you is call/email all the schools that UR going 2apply2 & ask them if U apply online is the app.fee waived. I called up about 40 different schools &asked them that same question, alot of them said yes& of course some said no. It took alot of research &time, but I got accepted into a great program.

I only applied to one program for my LPN. I applied to two for my bridge program, but I am still working on pre-reqs for them.

I will apply to 2 schools. My local university has an accelerated 2nd degree BSN program, but it is very competitive. They are looking for "diversity" not just grades. I will also apply at my cc for the ADN program. It is an excellent program, but the waiting list is 2-3 years. It isn't a competitive program--you get on the waiting list as long as you get an A or B on all your pre-reqs.

I just applied to my 3rd program ADN program today. I will apply for one more in September, then start on the university BSN programs in October.

I've applied to 8 ADN schools in Southern Cal and will now apply to a couple of BSN schools (since I'm waiting, anyway). Not only do application fees add up, but so do transcript fees! Good luck!

3 DE-MSN programs

1 ABSN program

3 traditional BSN programs (for last 2 yrs)

so 7 all together

Well I have about 5 I am def. applying to, but I am looking further into about 5 more and I am still researching to find others. But if I got in to one of the top 5 I would just love it. :loveya:

Just one the first time. If I don't get in, I will apply to the same one again plus another one.

This thread is making me nervous... I'm curious to see what more people are going to say.

I was going to apply to 4 ABSN programs before reading this thread (my cumulative undergrad GPA is a 3.6 and expected to go up, my pre-req GPA is basically around a 3.8 with some pre-reqs yet to be completed), but I've added 3 or 4 more to my list now because I'm afraid that I won't get in on the first try:cry:

I applied to 6 and got accepted to 1. It is especially tough since different schools have different pre-req requirements. But it only takes one acceptance letter!
