How competitive is your program?

I'm applying to the accelerated program at my school, they accept 24 students twice a year out of an unknown pool. The regular upper division program regularly gets 7-800 applicants for 48 seats. The wait list doesn't carry over at all, and if you are not accepted you have to reapply for the next semester.

I try not to think about the competition. If you focus on the negative you are just going to feel discouraged. My school's program does it by grades and I heard someone yesterday saying even those with straight A's arent getting in. Stuff like that makes me feel bad.

Its just one of those things you cant control.

My first choice for NS is a CSU and it had 276 people applying and I think around 80 were accepted. I like those odds.

My first choice: 144 apps for 24 spots (waitlisted )

2nd: 200 apps for 40 (got in!)

3rd: 260 apps for 75 (got in!)

the average around here is about 500-600 applicants for about 90-100 positions. State of Ct turned away 2,000(!!) qualified applicants (think it was for year 2006)..

Rumor is that at the school I attend, they accept around 80 students.....and locally there are 3 other colleges that have nursing programs....

The school I am applying to has around 900 something applicants for 90 something spots. People are suprised when I tell them that they only accept about 10% of the applicants. I just hope I am part of that 10%!

well as far as i know, last year they had 100 seats and 600 or 800 applicants (little fuzzy on what they said)

Aparently they upped the anti, and opened more seats for the program making it 150

Over 100 applicants, and 30 spots. It is a 14 month accelerated program. There are no interviews, no recommendations, and no tests. It's just based on grades and essays. :typing

400 applicants for 32 seats for 07-08.

My school has about 150 applications for about 50 slots...pretty good odds. However, it's a 3-college consorteum, so those in the immediate service area get priority over those outside, so this pretty much makes your chances of getting in zero if you don't live in this area.

I have learned, just from talking to other schools, that the number of applications they receive is usually a raw number, it doesn't necessarily mean that they were QUALIFIED applicants.

My school said they go through tons of applications....GPA too low, took Chemistry too long ago, never took 2 semesters of college-level biology (which is required for AP). So when they dwindle through the applications they have a much smaller number of applications that they put into their applicant pool.

My school which I didn't get admit accepted 98 of 288 applicants. This counts is for summer term only. I'm not sure how many will be apply during spring, and how many will be accepted.

That rules are harsh and somewhat unfair. They should be telling the applicants what they need to be doing in the meantime in order to get accepted. It's no games. Everyone desperates to get in.
