Hi, new here.

Hi,

I'm a CMA who wants to become an RN when I move to Florida (from New Jersey). I've been wanting to do this for a long time, but life and finances got the better of me.

I'm trying to get a better idea of what I need (and want) to do to get into a nursing program. I'd like to find a hospital to work for that has a scholarship program for RN in north or central Florida. I would prefer to work full time as a medical assistant or phlebtomist while going to school because I have two small children (one with special needs) and need health insurance.

Does anyone here have an idea of where I should start looking or what my options are?

in our forums, you will find all the nursing news, support and direction that you will need as a new or seasoned nurse in the field. we have about 150 forums in total.

our list of different forums is located here:---> allnurses list of forums

have a topic to discuss or question to ask? go to the list of forums, pick the forum that best matches, and post in there (pg 13 language always). you will get feedback. so, check back often.

to make a post in a forum, just go to that forum and post like you did here if someone has already created it...your post is a reply response.

to create your own new thread (the first post to start off feedback), you do this:

in any forum, go to the top yellow bar and towards the right, you will see something that reads--> forum tools. it is a pull down menu. click it. in that menu, you will see--> post a new thread. click that.

and there you go.....just follows what it tells you.

Good luck to you! :)

I live in Pace,Fl, it is just outside Pensacola, I just started nursing school here, and the waiting lists are long at all the schools. There are hospitals that do scholarship programs here, if you agree to work for them after graduation, you have to have a letter of acceptance to apply for them.

If you need prerequisites, those take awhile to get through, but if you get your name on the lists and get started it seems to come out about right. Waiting lists can be from 1 to 2 years to get through.

Well, I've waited this long... I'm just trying to come up with some kind of plan. If the waiting lists are long, does that mean I could be "accepted" before I can go? That might actually work out better since I want make sure I have some way to pay for the tuition before I start.
