Help! Information Please

Just to add that the NMC (nursing & Midwifery council) wants foreign nurses in the UK (or trying to come to the UK) to report any agency that is not working within the law, is allowing it's nurses to be exploited or is mis-informing them in anyway.

According to their magazine they are aware of such cases and want nurses to whistle-blow to prevent further abuses.

Details I'm sure are on their website - & even if they're not - all the contact details for the NMC are.

So please report any wrong-doing by these agencies for your sakes & for the sake of others that may find themselves in bad situations in the future.

i'm in the middle of deciding whether to pursue my application with Human Aggregates Philippines INc. half of me wants to go there but half of me is afraid what will happen to me there..I'm a Graduate of BSN and i passed all the exams for USA i already filed my petition i-140 but bacause of retrogression I guess still have to wait for 2-3 years for the processing of my papers... I've waited for 1 year for St. lukes med center to deploy me but until now i do not received any calls from them..until i came to know about nurses who are going to UK to take NVQs just to get out of this country by student visa by paying an amount of 200k+...and according to them after 2years you will be given a certification and you are allowed to immigrate in canada australia after finishing the course..im a bit confuse about my decision please help me with what decision i will make..but i have contacts in UK and they are saying that they are ok and enjoy their work there in UK..I guess I just have to Pray hard that if ever I will be going there that God will help me..I just want to make use of my time while waiting for my petition in US i want to work in UK.

Not sure how this will get you into Canada or Australia as they have their own requirements and generally would like to see local license and experience. coming over and doing NVQ will not gain you the experience required.

it seems that no matter what is posted that for some reason phillipine nurses are allowing themselves to be exploited by uk and us employers who are making money for themselves and giving false information as to the immigration process.

i know that us brits are impatient with the process, but do not believe that we would not be able to see the big picture and stay away from these kind of employers.

i just want to know what happened to you there in UK?? what are your experiences there?? is the nature hard of your work hard?? im starting to change my mind of coming to UK but I need a job badly...just the same with your case i already passed my CGFNS,IELTS and NCLEX and right now waiting for my papers to be process. but my i-140 was just filed this May2008 and I've got to wait for 2-3 years for me to go to USA... they said that if I go to UK it will open the doors for me to go in CAnada, australia and of course US...So according to them it is stepping stone for me to go there...I've stayed here for almost 3 years until now I still dont have a job related to my course instead of working in a hospital I'm at a korean home teaching koreans...i felt bad because i"ve worked hard for me to pass all my exams then I will here's what will happen to me...hayzzz...i hope you will reply on me...just tell me honestly what i have to expect when I go there...

Again I can not see how it will open doors for you as you will not be working in the UK as a nurse(RN) NVQ has nothing to do with nursing it is just a national qualification and only recognized in the UK.

I know there are many in these forums who looks at working below a "BSN" kinda "off" but being a resident of the Philippines, seeing and witnissing the plight of Filipino nursing graduates... I empathize and fully understand their situation. But those who are not here in the Philippines, living in a developed countries, will see things differently.

NVQ in Health & Social Care in the UK gives Filipino nursing graduates a chance to gain a certificate that is recognized worldwide. The expereince they will gain and the skills they will learn far outweighs what yhey will earn while working in a call center here in the Philippines. YES, people out there in other countries, for your information . Filipino nursing graduates lot here in the Philippines is employed in call centers. Many more are uemployed because there is not enough hospitals to accept them even as volunteers.

Silverdragon, you and you alone can decide your fate. I know of MANY NURSES who are now in the UK under the NVQ program. They are happy and earn more than PHP91,000/month. Take a look at the table below of the expected earning and expenses.

I'm not quite sure when these figures come from but if you are in rented accommodation you will be expected to contribute to the council tax! In this area the minimum payment per month is £100 so you would be expected to pay a proportion of that.Rent here is likely to be a minimum of £250 per month.

We have two PI who are currently undergoing their SVQ3(NVQ) Their wages per hour are in the £6-£7 range and to a max of 40 hours per week.Neither are nurses however,they came across purely as carers.

NVQ is a UK national vocasional qualification and most countries when looking for candidates are looking for degrees, bachelors etc. Not all countries will accept them, time will have to be spent getting them converted to the country's system and have seen it in other forums where someone from the UK could not get them transferred to the US as nothing could equate to the US standard and didn't meet US visa requirements. That is something that people have to be aware of. I have no problems with people wanting to move/work in other countries, I have done it, but they need to be aware of the ups and downs. Cost of living in the UK is not cheap and the same as many other countries preference should be given to the citizens first and there is no shortage of carers in the UK and the government is trying to encourage people to work. The same can be said for lots of other countries

nurses in the uk train to be a nurse because thats what they want to do, they dont use the training as a way of leaving it, the phillipines are endlessly training nurses when there are no jobs for them, knowing that they will leave, but then the phillipinos work in the uk and the us and send a large amount of their earnings back home, so maybe its not a bad judgement call after all, its one way of making sure that british pounds and american dollars get poured into their economy and not ours. if you know that you can get a call centre job after becoming a bsn, why not skip the training and get the job in the first place and start earning money, but then you wouldnt be able to leave your country,

and whisky,,,your post sounds like something out of a brochure that encourages these bsn nurses to come from the phillipines to the uk to study for a qualification that is only pertinent to the uk, not worldwide.
