Help finding a nursing program

Published

Hello

i was in a community college trying to do nursing, I took all the general classes however I failed anatomy 4 times. I have a 2.3 gpa and was wondering if anyone knows a program that I would still be able to join? I've been working at a pharmacy for 3 years, I'm not sure if that helps. Or does anyone know of a of a different way to becoming a nurse. For example I've heard of people getting a bachelors in sociology and doing something called an acclerated nursing program after that. Any help will be appreciate.

thank you

Accelerated BSN programs are highly competitive often seeking GPA >3.5.

Failing anatomy 4x is what you need to evaluate and address as this is a core subject needed for nursing in addition to statistics, physiology, microbiology, pathophysiology, general and developmental psychology, pharmacology, chemistry and pathophysiology.

Honesty, with your GPA and failing classes multiple times you have little to no shot at being accepted into a nursing program. If you retake the classes you did poorly in and make A's then you might be able to get into a sketchy for profit school that will take anyone willing to pay an arm and a leg. Im not trying to be mean and crush your dreams im just being realistic, you might want to reevaluate your educational goals and shift routes.

To be honest, your best bet may be to start over completely at a new school and just pretend the other school (and bad GPA) never happened. I don't think you can even get into a community college nursing program with that GPA.

school applications ask about prior college courses taken and want transcripts. if financial aid is involved it gets even trickier. pretending to be a brand new freshman without any college courses at all isn't a good plan.

you might want to look into an LPN program that doesn't have those classes as prerequeisites, and isn't college-based. other than that I don't think you have much of a shot at an RN program.

Whoops! Thanks for pointing that out. It's clearly been a VERY long time since I've applied for college entrance, lol.

Four times is a lot for failing once class. most programs(In my area)does not even want students who repeated a class once. I would suggest becoming an Lpn, at a vocational school. Maybe try to figure out why you failed the class four times, and do something differently. Also you could go the "for profit" route, but if you do those schools are expensive, and credits do not transfer usually.

Thats considered fraud, and, if the OP accepted any form of financial aid, the new school WILL know that she lied about never attending that other school, and she'll risk being kicked out. Can you imagine being kicked out of school for academic dishonesty just a few semesters away from graduating, or even having your degree revoked? It happens.

In my area, AP is a prerequisite even for LPN programs.

Does your school offers tutoring? Maybe that could help. There are also plenty of helpful videos on YouTube you could watch to help you but you definitely need AP to get into any nursing school.

I didn't need any pre-reqs for my LVN program. I'm sure it varies by location & program.

I already apologized once, but I will do so again. I haven't applied to college since 1998 and it's the only one I've attended (I'm a life long student apparently). So I didn't realize that the application asked if one had ever attended another institution. I definitely wouldn't want to encourage anyone to commit fraud or lie on an application.
