Today in my math class the professor said that our text book had incorrect information!!!! He said that the conversions were WRONG!!!! and there were some students in the classroom that were doubting him and saying that he was wrong because this book has been used for several years.
Well for all of you that are nurses or give meds etc... can you please tell me how many teaspoons to minims?????
The professor said that he is going to write to the publishers etc. etc.
He says that there are 80 minims to a tsp. and the book says 60 minims. I've looked online and I cant get a straight answer. I need to know which is right for so many reasons,:uhoh21: besides doing my homework !!!:stone
Thank you in advance

Hello,
Your teacher is correct. There are 80 minims to a teaspoon. 60 minims equals 0.75 of a teaspoon.

Minnielynn - what textbook are you using? I'm going over conversion tables now also, and MY textbook says 1 tsp = 60 drops! Are you using "Clincal Calculations" by Kee and Marshall?
Funny, I've just typed a whole conversion table in Word to print out when I saw this thread!

WHY are they teaching minims? I have never used or seen them used in 4 years of nursing, and I deal with meds all day.

I'm with Sharann. I've been a nurse for 21 years and have never seen them used anywhere.
