-Gloves-

I have a question. My hands sweat ALOT..:o and when putting gloves on i have a bit of an issue getting them on cuz the glove sticks to my hand like crazy.

I found that if i use powdered gloves it makes life a bit easier , but i have come to discover that most of the hospitals[ive been to] dont carry powedered gloves, and im not gonna bring my own gloves with me and be a dork.

so what can i do to make things easier

This sounds crazy but what would you do if you were in the OR as a scrub nurse? You can't power before surgery? so how do they keep their hands from breaking out? any thought?

Not a Nurse but I am a Surgical Tech, I scrub alllll day long.. People rarely break out from the gloves. They usually break out as a reaction to the gown cuffs or the actual water less scrub that we use. We do have the latex free, nitrile kind of gloves though, and they work for anyone that may have sensitive skin. We were also told by the employee health nurse to wrap webril/kerlix around out wrists if we have a reaction, which is kind of weird and hard to do. :) But powder in the OR, is a NONO. It can get everywhere and is not sterile.

Ask your doctor/dermatologist. There may be some other options available. My husband has the same problem.

I agree...but it's all about the bottom line...non-latex = more $

aaaahhhhhh:uhoh3:

I have the same issue along with a very mild latex allergy. The problem for me is not only do I soak the interior of the gloves but I itch and skin gets irritated. My job uses only latex and non-powdered. "Carrying around" in your pockets dont forget is an infection issue so I honestly wouldnt recommend it. Like the previous I carry one of the little travel samples of Gold Bond powder and use it when it's really an issue.

Re infection issue - What about keeping the gloves in a ziplock baggie in your pocket - they are protected both from anything that may be splashed on your uniform and from any perspiration from the other side of the uniform???

Never thought of it, Good idea!!!

When I was in Vietnam last summer, we used powdered gloves . . .I hate them but there is no way to get gloves on with all that humidity.

I like the idea of bringing my own cornstarch powder . ..
