Any good advice out there? I'm currently looking into Simmons University, which seems to have everything I need. But, there are SO many of them out there, it's tough to nail down one.

HI there! I'm from MN and have you looked on BON site? Walden University is completely 100% online. I did get my BSN from Walden. Very flexible and doable. But I moved to California so I will not use Walden here. California is a bit stuck up about not using California schools.

So, look up Walden University. It is accredited and the MN BON approved. I don't think anyone else in MN is completely online. Otherwise, some of my co-workers in MN that did online CNM and FNP did Frontier University, Maryville University, and at one point I was looking at University of Cincinnati. I know the gals that did Frontier and Maryville found employment right away afterwards.

Walden does not place you in clinicals though! You must find your own. That's the hardest thing is finding a preceptor so look and ask early!

Completely online, 28 months from start to finish. 45 credits.

I am in my first semester and all I can say it is a white glove service so far.

I am a student at University of West Florida in Pensacola. They just released this MSN FNP program just last year and so far I am currently taking Adv Pharmacology and Evidence Based Practice and loving it. It's been awhile since I took online classes 2014 to be exact and the enrollment specialist helped me get all my paperwork in order. I'm a clinic nurse and it's awesome so far, right now the only downside is that you have to find your own preceptor which I am currently looking for. I have found my womens health and ped preceptor and I need to find my FP preceptor and I will be golden.

Two courses per semester, but since this is my first semester I am taking my classes out of order. But you can start as soon as all your paperwork is in order. In my previous post, I attached the plan of study it is a full time FNP. I'm taking the 3rd semester portion on the plan of study right now and then this fall I'm taking the health assessment and lab and population health promotion and mgt. So that will be a bit tight with my schedule since I work weekdays.

Does the University of West Florida courses have weekly discussions, papers, and exams? How are the assignments?

One class have biweekly discussions and the other class Adv Pharm has simulation online that is due weekly and its interesting and different than UCF's BSN online program. But nonetheless, if you can keep yourself motivated and on task, you can excel in these classes, the professors are very helpful and they want you to excel as a FNP, not "just a number" per se. I do enjoy thoroughly enjoy these two classes. The quizzes are time just like with any other quizzes I have taken online and they are trying to prepare for you to answer questions under pressure like the FNP exam. The assignments are submitted through eLearning Canvas. Very easy to navigate compared to Blackboard. I have no issues as of yet and if I have any questions I have resources for my advisor, advisor assistant, librarian, and my professors.

Hi! Are all exams proctored and do you go in person for a skills lab?

just following the discussion, its good to hear specific feedback baut some of the programs, so thanks to those sharing

Our suture workshop is on zoom this week, the exams are not proctored yet...but it can change any time. each instructor is different.

Columbus State University in Georgia is a great brick and mortar school that offers online FNP program. The tuition is very affordable with no campus visit. They are accepting applicants for Spring and Fall 2021.
