Flu shot in July

Hi,

Does anyone know where to get flu shots currently? I need it for school by the 1st of August and it's in between seasons now. I live in Southern California- long beach area.

They're not available until October. Call your nursing school. I'm sure they're aware and just don't put different due dates for everything, but rather just expect that one will be done ASAP.

I am about to start too, the paperwork looks like you MUST get the flu shot now. There are no flu shots available, so it's impossible. You school likely understands that and will ask for you to get it when it becomes available.

It's not flu season. The CDC hasn't even determined which strain of flu will be in this year's vaccine yet.

You cannot get a vaccine that does not yet exist. Then again another student posted that she was told she must get a hepatitis C vaccine--a vaccine barely in research stages and likely years from clinical trials and marketability.

My school allows you to sign a declination form for the flu and Hep B shots; the caveat being you might have to wear a mask at some clinical facilities.

The quadrivalent flu shot is in fact available at some CVS Pharmacy locations now -- they just started rolling them out. The pharmacist was incredulous as to why one would want to get it so early though.

It's not flu season....but production IS well under way, the strains are already known to the CDC.

Recently threw away the last of the 2014-2015 vaccinations; the last ones to expire were dated 06/30/2015.

OP, if you can even find a vaccine that is specified for this UPCOMING flu season, it makes no sense to get it yet. You aren't going to have any real risk of exposure for months.....recommendation is to get it starting in September. Clue in your school ;)

According to cdc projected delivery is late July early August. Recommendations are to get the shot starting in September. They apparently made the choice of strains in February. Most won't have the vaccine until next month though some may have it now

My deadline for Flu shot "says" July 30, but we were notified we are not able to fulfill this requirement until October. Check with your program's compliance specialist to make sure. If you are indeed required to get this now, they should be able to point you in some direction as to where to get this done. Good luck, I know how crazy it is to have to get everything in order.
