FCCJ Fall 2008

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Well...So far everything is going great. I just have to go pick up my Blue FCCJ Polo and Skills Kit. Are either of these places near each other?? I'm getting really excited, but I'm also trying to enjoy every last free second we have. It's going to be difficult to balance school..work..family..friends..and just life in general, but I know that we can do this. Anyways I hope everyone has a GREAT day!!!! :D

Happy Sunday afternoon to everyone! I was talking with my newly graduated friend the other day and she recommended a rolling backpack for the first term. She said we'll have a ton of books. But she said after the first term a regular backpack will do. Just a heads up in case someone comes across a sale. I'm heading to OP today to get my scrub pants and sneakers. Got my stethoscope (GRX medical). It's pretty nice. Apparently it can go from adult to peds to bell cone (?). I've got my financial aid appt at FCCJ on Tuesday. Hope everything is going smoothly for everyone.

I think I will try a regular back pack or tote and hopefully it will do okay. lol..I'm sure once I see all that we have to carry around then I'll be all for the rolling back pack though. Oh...since your going to OP..Life Uniform carries great white uniform pants, but I didn't like their shoes. Alot of them did not fit the school's profile. I ended up going to Rack Room Shoes and bought a pair of Reebok classics. They were $10 cheaper than the school's and heck I really like them..lol. Hope you have a great day!! I live really close to OP..so if you want to meet up let me know.

Oh, shoot, molse001. Just got back this evening. I had just left when you left that message on the forum. I got two white pants from Life but went to Rack Room Shoes and got white sketchers. I don't know where the skills kit location is but the Polo shirt place is on Salisbury Rd (near JTB). Be sure and call the skills kit place first, as they didn't have the kits completed when I called on Thursday.

lol..thats okay. I think I will go and get the polo shirt and skills kit on the same day..maybe save some gas. I will be mapquesting away to find these places..lol. I swear, they have us running in every direction. I'm thinking I might go on Thursday. From previous posts on here I gather that they will be ready this week. I will call to be sure though. Thanks for the information. Well, I hope you have a Great week!!!

I was looking on Walmarts site and found white scrubs and some nurse shoes. I bought the scrubs, but could't find the shoes!

What exactly are our shoes supposed to be like anyways??

Do not go cheap on shoes. That is probably the only thing you should not go cheap on. Your feet will hate you for it. And you can use them all 4 semesters...spend at least $40 on shoes unless you catch them on sale. =)

Well, I know Walmart is usually crap. I'm just gonna have to suck it up and pay more. My feet do get me where I'm going...

The shoes need to be all white leather. I bought a pair of Reebok classics from Rackroom shoes for $45. Its $10 cheaper than what the program wanted us to purchase from them. RR is having great sales right now too!! Its really the best place to get them.

Hey everyone!!!

dizern- I just wanted to say happy belated birthday. I noticed your age changed and I remembered that ur b-day was on the 19th. My boyfriend just turn 26 and his b-day was on the 20th. So I know it might be some days later but.......:hpbday: now let's have some cake:chuckle:WHCk:

bossladii and molse001 birthdays are coming soon too!!!

Let's Party:clpty:ha ha

all right so this is completely off subject. but i figured i'd get everyone's opinion.

i'm supposed to be getting married may of 2009. i was hoping to be able to get married in between spring and summer semesters. but i don't know how much time is in between the semesters or if this is even a good idea. i don't know anyone in the program to ask so i figured i'd ask our lil tread. anyone in the program or would think that by end of second going into third semester it would be totally irrational/stressful to have a wedding? i really don't know what to expect while in nursing school if it will be even feasible to try to do this. my fiancé could care less if we do it may or a year later. i don't have a problem waiting just that i didn't want to wait that long. any opinions would be helpful and appreciated.

thanks in advance!!

thanks buddy! I appreciate it! yep im getting up there....no offense to anyone older or anything!

well i dunno about a wedding but me and my husband are plotting on having our 2nd child that same time as well......i know that it will be harder but we were thinking of trying the first semester of nursing school, and i would be due either inbetween 2nd and third semester or during the third semester......i know it sounds crazy, but i dont want my children to be too far apart in age, my son is almost two and he would be three years apart, which sounds good! I know it would add to the stress but I dont see why my life and family planning should stop becasue im in nursing school.....in the end my life accomplishments are going to be my family! you all are probably thinking im nuts, but im a strong women and I really think that if I want it bad enough I can do it, and as I have read there are plenty of people that have graduated nursing school in the same circumstance......I dunno its just what ive got in the works!!
