Failed Again... Really Need Help With A Plan!!!

Hey All:crying2:

I found this website last night after doing a search in google about the NCLEX-RN exam and the number of questions I got. Anyway, I basically knew last night that I had failed (once again) after I read about how to do the "Peason Trick." It took me all the way to the CC page... got my unofficial results today from Pearson and I failed. Have been crying non-stop for the last 1 1/2 hours... Anyway, I need a new plan but let me tell you my story first...

I graduated from nursing school in December 2006. Took the NCLEX exam about 3 months after graduation and got the full 265 questions but failed. I was so discourgaged after that!! I took the exam again about 4 months later got 75 questions and failed... Before the second time around I took the Kaplan course but didn't really do a lot of the questions before the test (my own fault totally for not studying and doing the QBANK questions, I know).

After I failed the second time I was really down with a lot of stress. I thought to myself that maybe this is just not meant to be... maybe I am not suppose to be an RN... I didn't take the test again until this past Friday 7/17. Almost 2 years from the last time I took it and got 110 questions and failed... I didn't expect to pass it this time around b/c it has been forever since I took it. I got a lot priority, infection control, and 3 SATA questions.

Now that I know I have failed I am going to take it again in 50 days and keep taking it every 50 days until I pass the damn thing!!! Hopefully forth time will be a charm!! I am so embarrassed about failing once again... I am almost at the end of the line here... I am in Texas and I have 4 years to pass the exam from my graduation date. I graduated in Dec 2006... So I have about a year and half left. Hopefully it won't take me that long...

Okay, sorry this is so long so far!! I need a plan, can anybody suggest some tips for me?? I studied about a month before I took it this time using the tests that I saved on my computer from the Kaplan course I took two years ago. I still have a lot of the unanswered QBANK questions still from the Kaplan course saved on my computer as well (I screen captured the questions unanswered then Screen Captured the questions answered with the rationales). I also studied a book that had over 3,000 nursing bullets (sorry I can't remember the exact name of the book right now. My mind is going in circles).

What books do you all suggest getting/using?? I have been reading on here a lot about Saunders? Is that a good book to use?? Should I also get the updated Kaplan book and re-order the QBANK again or just answer the un-answered QBANK questions I have saved?? I will be grateful for any tips!!! And what is the "Suzanne's Tips" that I have been reading about on here??

Thanks...

I really want to see "PASS" in 50 days!!! I am not going to give up!!!

uhm I think you will a great chance to pass if you study for a change :typing. I think you have guts for admitting that you thought you could "wing" it and speak about this, many would not. I wish you good luck and I am sure you will be fine once your braincells take in all that wonderful study material lol. :banghead::cool:

hi! jessica, I'm sorry to hear that, all i can say since i am not taking NCLEX yet, "Everything has a Reason" God allow things happen that we don't like just to strengthen our Faith and Prayer along with our hard work to harvest success in the end.

I know someone who failed many times but he didn't give up and now is a very successful guy i've known with his own different kind of business and branches!

God has a unique individual plan for us in His due time!

GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!

Keep Praying! i will include you on my prayer also! GOD BLESS US test takers!

Hi,

a freind of mine has failed twice... she was able to stop by the college she went to and talk to her old advisor, who was able to set her up with some tutoring.... this might help......

keep your head up.... don't fluster, and beleive in yourself....

I would definitely recommend Kaplan (the live course). I think it teaches you the strategies that give you the ability to properly tackle the questions you'll be presented with. Our instructor had also mentioned that completion of the QBank is vital to doing well on boards. They had found that people who had failed after using Kaplan were those that generally had barely used qbank or not used it at all. I completed 100% of the questions and know now that it really made a significant difference in anwsering my questions on the exam. I would also completely read the course book at least once. In the first few pages of the coursebook you will find that it provides a schedule that you can tailor.. depending on how many weeks after the live portion you plan to take boards. This allows you to accordingly follow a set schedule and finish the questions before your test date. I feel that the key is anwsering questions, using the strategies and developing that confidence that you will after anwsering so many questions continously for several weeks. I wish you the best of luck!!! :wink2:

I graduated May 2009 and took boards for the first time June 24. I did the "tricks" that I heard about from this website and unfortunately all signs pointed to failed. I found out 2 days later that I did fail. I am scheduled to take boards again August 14, 2009!! and am really scared. I have practiced several nclex 3500, and nclex 4000 and was wondering if anyone had any advice!! I'm praying that I pass this time, but I feel like I'm missing some valuable information that could really make alot "click" for me! Thank you for any help!!

Do not rush to resit the exam, do plenty of questions and read the rationale. Make sure you understand what is being asked. You can do it and good luck

Jessica please don't take offense to my thanking your original post. I thanked the post because you have vented your frustrations, and sometimes it helps to vent your feelings. When you get things off your chest it sometimes relieves some of the stress that you're going through.

I did some practice Kaplan questions, and I want to add that I took the PN exam, so I know it's totally different from the RN exam, but Kaplan did seem to help. I also used Saunders, which I liked because they had it broken down by systems and it gave you a chapter to read and then do the practice questions. I found that helpful. The only drawback is that the questions were a lot easier than the NCLEX-PN. When doing the questions and answers always read your rationales whether you got the question wrong or not. If there is something in the question that you didn't understand, I encourage you to look it up. I hope this helps, and best wishes on your next exam. DON'T GIVE UP!:wink2:
