ER computer programs

Have used T system and Firstnet. Love T system. Everything in a few easy tabs. Actually made my charting better because it reminded me to chart certain things (I would see them listed as I went so I would say "Hey, I should document that too". Then you can look at all your documentation in print view and it looks like a word document with the sections, Triage, Assessment, Progress, and Discharge. Our docs even document in it so you can click on their tab and view their notes. Labs pop up on it too. The docs can also do electronic ordering on it so no more "What the heck does this order say?" When looking at a paper chart. LOVE IT!!!

We use CERNER FirstNet at our ED, It's pretty easy to document on and easy to navigate.

It all depends on what they have activated. Ours is tedious and I find myself using the other section to type in free text often. Plus, you have to open a new page for triage, meds, history, assessment, etc. It is a lot of clicking.

I've only ever used MedHost, but I actually like it a lot. It was pretty easy to learn, and I like how the assessment is oriented, and you can free-text easily when there's nothing that fits exactly.

I learn MedHost tomorrow, it's what my new hospital uses. My previous hospital used Cerner/First net but I didn't work in the ED so I only used Cerner and I also used Meditech.

After having Meditech and Cerner I am guessing I was spoiled. Learned the hospitals main charting system today, McKessons Care Manager (or something like that) and OMG it was TERRIBLE. So time consuming and not user friendly at all compared to what I am used to. So thankful I will only have to use it when I am in the ED obs unit.

My entire hospital is switching to EPIC in the next 18-24 months and CPOE (which I have had at my previous facility and LOVED) so we shall see how the transition goes. I imagine EPIC no matter what HAS to be better then what they are using now. None of their stuff is integrated. They use pyxis for supplies but not for meds, they use admin rx I think it is for meds. But again that will only be in the ED obs (and rest of hospital) for now until the switch to EPIC.

So far the charting system has been my only complaint about my new job but they said the MedHost and ED is a lot different then the rest of the hospital with all of that and the docs enter their own orders via a touchscreen system.

Medhost is a lot of repetition... I like it though

Got to play with the MedHost today and so far I LOVE it. I am a very visual person and it looks very clean and nice to me. So much better than the main system the hospital is using.

i like EPIC lol

PICIS, ah sweet loved PICIS, now gone to make way for the POS that is EPIC. But before I start ranting, PICIS is actually I think a good choice. PICIS had a very clear overview screen, fairly intuitive assessment prompts and procedure drop boxes and was easy to read through. The triage function was brief but solid, no extraneous junk and the color coding made it easy to see the department and lobby flow as a whole. Plus the in system email worked well.
