Does working in L&D affect your sex drive?

I've been an L&D nurse for about a year and a half. I've noticed lately a decrease in my sex drive which I've chalked up to being with my husband for a few years, the fact that I'm working hard, stressed, my husband is unemployed so it's a rough time for us...

Then it occurred to me that a factor could be the actual work I do.

We see the good, the bad and the ugly of the human body, things going in and out of lady partss all day long, maybe it just eliminates some of the sexiness.

And, sorry for being graphic, but there have been some times in bed with my husband when a certain act reminds me way too much of a certain procedure at work! (SVE is one that comes to mind...) Kind of ruins the moment.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Any tips on separating work life from home life?

I think it may be more of the stress than the L&D. When my husband lost his job for a few months I wasn't feelng that sexy either.

Not at all.

Working nights and being tired all.the.time. certainly does affect my sex drive, however.

And to be crude, but if that act reminds you of a SVE, then he's doing it wrong (or you're doing the SVEs wrong!). :)

It doesn't bother me at all!! Work stays at work!!! When something goes wrong in the hospitalIm just thankful that my kids were healthy and full term.

Since you didn't ask just the females I will give my $0.02 from a male L&D nurse- it can, especially if I have an "interesting" patient.

Yes, it affects me because I'm too freaking tired to fool around after a 12!

Otherwise, it is honestly a completely separate, & strictly clinical entity for me.

It's never affected my sex drive; just made me even more careful with birth control (in the old days when that was still an issue). But I don't leave work entirely separate from my home life. When we hold hands, I find myself palpating veins for an IV start.
