Do you have to complete all pre-reqs before applying?

Hello,

If I apply to nursing school I wouldn't be able to complete all pre-reqs before applying.

But by the end of the Spring and before actually going into nursing school I would complete it.

My planned sequence for next year is Fall 2013 (this is when I plan to apply) Anatomy 1 + Microbiology then in Spring it would just be Anatomy 2.

Thanks.

That depends on the admission requirements of the school you are applying to. Some schools require all prereqs done before application and others do not. I would contact the department of nursing and/or admissions.

Good luck applying.

It depends on your school. My school requires you to finish all of them before applying. You can't even be currently taking any pre-requisites, you have to have finished all of them. Good luck!

You have to contact the school as others said. My school lets you take them with the nursing classes.

My school doesn't require any pre-reqs other than high school biology and chemistry. Some people take them before the nursing classes, others take them with the nursing classes.

My school lets you take them while in the program!

My school allows you to take some, but not all during the program. But....there is no way you have time. I got everything done except micro and I'm taking that this summer, in between semesters of the nursing program.

Same for me. I have all of mine complete except A&P 1&2.

Which school do you guys go to? For the ones that can apply before completeting it?

I'm trying to apply all across the US, I prefer to stay in California but I might not get in ANY here. So out-of-state is an option. I'm trying to apply to as many schools as I possibly can.

I only have a 3.4 gpa.

Thanks.

My school will not put you on a candidates list for a seat unless you have completed the pre-reqs, taken the entrance exam and have the scores/grades they are looking for. It varies by school, as others have said.

When is your application deadline?

During Fall semester 2012 the only pre-reqs I had left were Anatomy, Physiology, and Micro (like you!). My application deadline was December 2012. The school had told me that it was not required to have everything completed by the deadline, but all the classes needed to be completed before entering the program (if I were to be accepted, of course). However, keep in mind that you are going to be competing with so many other applicants that HAVE completed all of the pre-requisites by the application deadline. Since these three science classes are the most nursing-related, admissions will weight more importance on these classes. So I decided to just apply next year when all of my pre-requisites are complete.

Most likely end of Nov. 2013.

I mean right now I am doing another major, but I might switch to nursing after I graduate. Which school is that? I'm trying to complie a list of schools.

Thanks.
