My manager isn't so bad...but our education nurse IS!!!! She's always like "you should really try to come to this 11am inservice (non mandatory)" I'm thinking lady...I don't get out of here until 8am most mornings..have to drive a half hour...hmmm..that puts it to 8:30...by the time I get snuggled into bed...it's9:30.....so your telling me...that I should sleep a half hour and drive another half hour to get back to your stupid non required inservice...I don't think soooooo!!!! It would be like asking her...(who works days) to drive in at 2am to attend an inservice. I don't think people will ever understand the night shift....just had to rant...hope you are well snoopy and all others of course..
luv,

My response...."umm....NO. Your poor planning is not my problem."
Children say the cutest things.
Or, as Sammy said to Annelle in "Steel Magnolias":
"I'd rather eat dirt!":)
I like it when they say things that are prefaced by: "It would really help us out if you would..."
This phrase is usually followed by something completely ridiculous like:
1. Be charge today (even though you aren't being paid for it)
2. Stay to cover 3-11 (even thought it's Mother's Day, Christmas, etc. and the selfish 3-11 nurse called in)
3. Bend over and let me kick you in the a**
etc....
:roll #3!
I get daily and sometimes 2-3 calls daily to cover shifts. Now I choose to work 3-11 every other weekend for a reason! Sometimes I will come in to help out a few hrs or a day or two I week, but not every blessed day. Every time I let them know.... I choose to stay home and participate in my childrens upbringing...(aka. no babysitter). DON said..."You should really work on that"
Also let her know a few weeks ago about my maternity leave in March and that I'd be willing to come in extra to train my replacement... "her response...we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" Hello???? YOu bet I let the other nurses know that we have to wait to "cross that brige" and that I did offer to train a replacement so that they wouldn't be even more short handed:imbar
