Crocs & Back Problems

I received 2 pairs of white Crocs Specialists without vents for Christmas. I have back problems, but have read on here that the Specialist model has better arch support, which will help my back.

Does anyone that has back problems (I have scoliosis) have the Crocs Specailist model? If so, can you give me some feedback on what you do or do not like about them?

Thank you!

P.S. I'm curious if I should just sell them and get a pair of other shoes like Clarks or Dansko or something else? I'm still a Nursing Student, so I'm trying to save my back but don't know much about the right shoe choice.

Apparently Crocs are the devil. There's huge threads about them on here somewhere. They have even been banned from many hospitals. I personally have had a pair for over 5 years. Not the one's with holes in them...for goodness sake it's a hospital cover your feet! Anyway, I trip on them all time and they do nothing to relieve my back problems but they are so comfy I just can't give em up.

I trip in mine all the time. We're not allowed to wear them at the hospital because of the trip risk but I love them still.

I've been wearing birkenstock clogs for at least 15 years and they definately help with my back and my feet have never hurt.

I use nothing else but Birkies and would not consider anything else. You can run with these, and even work out at the gym with them. Toes are hard, so carts and beds cannot roll over them.

yea! another birki groupy!

my danskos have been helpful for not only my bad back but my bad knees as well.

I have a pair of Crocs, but use them only for outside work (gardening and the like...but NOT cutting grass) or for the pool. I can only wear them for a short time for walking. There is no stability and it makes my BAD knees hurt if I walk in them for any period of time. I could never wear them for work. And I have seen many nurses and CNAs wear them all day, every day, and swear by them.

Haha, I trip in my crocs too--just thought it was me. And yes, my back hurts when I wear them...so am trying some new shoes. Fun. Good luck finding something supportive!

My back hurts so badly when I wear them...but they are so comfortable for the first few hours. I save mine for lounging around the house now.

I love love love love my Quarks. They are the best thing to ever happen to my back and feet.

I also wear the Specialist model and I love them...I have not tripped once in this model(in regular crocs, I trip every so often) and my feet never hurt at the end of the shift. I also have back issues, and the Crocs are still very comfortable. So I give the Croc Specialists a big thumbs up.

Sorry not a Croc user or fan, but for my back problems and flat arch problems, I have had to buy orthotic inserts to relieve my problems. A good insert in a lace up shoe is the only way to go. I would not try running in clogs because of the trip risk, and for as many codes/staff assists/falls we get on my floor, I wouldn't want to take the chance.

Feet feel good from Crocs, but back still hurts. Use MBT and swear by them! Have had my shoes for 1 1/2 years and still going strong! No back pain with them.

Maisy;)
