CPR online cert

go to the aha website (american heart association).

You still have to do your hands on at a training site. From what ive heard, the online certification has failed... People are failing the hands on testing.

Most hospitals offer the program. It is a requirement for working in any facility. You are still going to need to go in for the hands on testing, so you may as well just get it done at the same time.

http://www.procpr.org has online test. They give you a test and show videos on the techniques. I have never had a problem with anyone not accepitng it. It's $25 and they will refund the money if your facility will not accept it.

.

You must do the hands on section with a AHA instructor.

Most facilities offer the class for free to their employees.

Many firestations and YMCAs offer classes, too.

CPR offered at the YMCA and at Fire Stations is for lay-persons, not healthcare personnel. Different type of card offered on conpletion.

Actually, when I was in nursing school, that's where I got my BLS for healthcare workers. It was all the same class, then we split into 2 groups with some additional training and a different test for the healthcare workers. I know the firestations in my area offer this - so it's worth checking out before discounting it as a quick option.

My first thought was how do you do chest compressions on a keyboard?:chuckle

Try your local Heart and Stroke Foundation for a CPR course. That's the one that was required by my nursing school and the recertification could be done in a couple of hours anywhere that did the Heart and Stroke technicque. Somehow it was different from the Red Cross course.

Yep, once ur employed the employer usually offers the recert every couple of months throughout the year. Some offer it as a paid shift and others require you to do it on your own time.

I am an instructor for Fire/Rescue. We do teach BLS-HCP. We teach every level of BLS(basic, heart saver, healthcare provider and the new EMS/pre-hospital version.) We also teach basic first aid, First Responder, PALS and ACLS. BLS,PALS and ACLS are American Heart Association criteria.

Sorry if you misunderstood what I was writing about. Your classes are different then what is done for the lay public. You are teaching health care personnel. The classes that are usually advertised in newspapers are for the lay public. Just wanted to make sure that the poster was aware that there is a difference. Same thing with the classes taught at the YMCA.

Hi,

thanks for the info. I recently recerted my ACLS & my facility does not have any of the red pins. Do you know where I could get one?
