What drug did you forget to waste?

Two separate dates 1 was Ativan the other was dilaudid

Do you have an RX for your Fioricet? I would imagine that would make it ok.....

As long as you tell them you take the medication and can show you have an active prescription for it, you should be fine.

what nis considered an active rx my date of issue is aug 2014

You should be ok if your drug test comes back positive for opiates, since you have a current Rx. If it comes back positive for benzos, nope, you're not ok.

Also, you're didn't follow policy on wasting the drugs. That alone could be a problem. I suspect you'll get some sort of "counseling" about doing what you're supposed to do, with bigger consequences if it happens again.

So how Long is a active rx good for

  • Author

This rx is the only rx that is prescribed to me for my migraines that I have had for 20 years plus

I'm thinking, and could be wrong, that the Rx and/or bottle have expiration dates. Seems logical that THAT date would be the one considered...

yes, this. If you got the RX and filled the script in Aug 2014, then most likely the bottle label will say "discard after August 2015" - you're clearly in that timeframe, so it's acceptable.

Not ok if the drug test comes back positive for opiates. Fioricet is butalbital, acetaminophen and caffeine. No opiates. Butalbital is a barbiturate. The meds missing are benzos and opiates so if OP tests positive for either, the prescription for Fioricet would not be a free pass.

OP, your prescription should say "X refills until X date." The date is when the prescription is active until. For most prescriptions, it's a year. For controlled substances (at least in my state) it's 6 months, unless the MD limits the number of refills to a shorter time than that.
