comfy shoes

:crying2: my feet hurt!...

what are the most comfy nurses shoes you've had?

I bought some Crocs about 3 weeks ago and my husband makes fun of the fact that I wear them everywhere, work, the yard, out to eat, really everywhere. My only concern is that if I still worked med/surg, I wouldn't like the holes on the top. They do make a model without the top holes.

DANSKO! I will never wear a different shoe to work. I wore nike shox a couple times and they don't compare to my danskos. Expensive but worth it. Go to footprints.com and close-outs for cheaper prices.

Dansko Professional. I have both RA & psoriatic arthritis & they help me make it thru the shift. I wear different colors & even wear them on the farm.

Danskos....by far the most comfortable. I bought a pair of Cherokee Rockers, thinking they would be really nice on my feet because of how light they are. But I was wrong....after about 4 hours, they feel horrible and my toes are all squished. I think it depends on each person's foot, arch, etc.

My Danskos are awesome...I paid $65 for them on Ebay and love, love, love them. They carry me through a 12 hour shift in ICU with no problem. They were a bit weird at first and I had to get used to walking in them. They almost "propel" you forward and you feel your rear end working a bit (in a good way). But it takes a lot of load off my lower back, which is a relief since my lumbar area is screwed up from years of diving and gymnastics.

I am purchasing another pair of them as a graduation present to myself....next week!!!!! I would say at least 60% of the nursing staff in my ICU wears the Danskos...that's where I learned about them.

Melanie = )

There was an article in Good Housekeeping last month (wasn't on their webpage though) about how people had gotten hurt wearing Z Coils.

We have a lot of nurses who wear the zcoils, and if you even have a hint of being clumsy then they aren't the shoes for you! One of our nurses got the coil tangled up in the IV lines and tripped and fell (and pulled out the IV :angryfire ). Otherwise, people swear by them.

I love my crocs!

I LOVE Dansko Professionals.

AMEN!!!! The best nursing shoe I have ever worn when it comes to being on my feet...

Another vote for Crocs. I have worn Dansko, New Balance, Cherokee Rockers, and Birkenstocks. I LOVE my crocs. As an added bonus, when I work in our body shop, they hose off easily.

What shoes are best for medium-wide feet? I wear about a size 9 Wide. :stone I want to be comfy during my upcoming clinicals!

I bought these shoes called CROCS.I only paid 20 bucks and I have never bought another shoes since. They are like walking on clouds.

Now I bought some Zcoil shoes but after 3 hours my feet hurt. With Crocs there is no need to sit or take a break because I feel as if I have been dancing on broken bottles.

I love my crocs.I wear them rain or shine.Even though they are bright yellow they are the only shoes I wear to work :chuckle

Crocs could do a little better with their sizing - one size crushes my feet and the next size up is HUGE. If they fit, they would probably feel okay.

Nothing has ever hurt my feet as bad as Cherokee's Rockers - O--U--C--H

I wear New Balance and they do okay, but I am always on the lookout for something more comfortable.

BTW - if my employer ever decided to force white shoes upon us, I would have to quit. Styles that I am able to function in do not always come in white. The health of my feet, legs, joints, etc is far more important than the color of my d*** shoes. Any employer that cannot understand that and insists on putting fashion above function can find someone else.

In 13 years I finally found shoes that I could walk in all day. I love my Birkies! Birkenstocks mold to your foot. I bought some Dansko's and went home limping after every shift. Since I have high arches, they would rub against the top of my foot and cause blisters.

Birkies run about the same as Danskos. Like someone said earlier, it's just trial and error.

I have Birkenstocks and love them! I've heard great things about Crocs also. I bought a pair. They are wonderful but only for the first 10 hours or so of my 13-14 hour shift. So I've gone back to the Birkies and wear the Crocs for EVERYTHING else.
