Class of 2015

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

Is there a certain area that y'all want to work in when you graduate?? I'm wanting to be a NICU nurse!

I'm trying to keep an open mind and see what I like as I'm going through my rotations. Right now, ER appeals to me the most. But, you never know...something else may pique my interest once I try it :)

Congratulations to all!

I have been accepted to the Cuesta College RN (ADN) program in San Luis Obispo, California, and will graduate in May 2015....Any others out there who will be starting at Cuesta this fall, too? I'd love to hear from you! :)

My orientation is next month. I currently work in surgical services at a regional healthcare facility as a surgery scheduler.

I am really looking forward to starting nursing school in August!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Christine :)

Hi Christine. Congratulations on your program!! I'm not too far away in Bakersfield & love SLO. I head over there every chance I get & would love to relocate in the area after I finish my ADN. Good luck to you!

:-) Sarah

Congrats to everyone! Starting an accelerated bsn and soo excited. Good luck to all!

Thanks, Sarah! It's a wonderful area to live and I hope you can relocate to this area when you have completed your program. All the best to you!

I too am drawn to the ER, but I'm planning on keeping an open mind as I move through clinicals. Like you said, you never know.

Hello everyone, I actually don't apply to my BSN program till June 1st, but if I get accepted, I'll be graduating in August 2015 :) good luck to you all!!

Hi everyone! I've been accepted into a BSN program and will start in August. Looking forward to finally starting - been a long time coming. :-) Good luck to everyone!

Hello class of 2015! I am so excited to get this show on the road. I start on June 3rd, and have nursing school orientation this coming Wed. I am so excited, but so nervous. My class graduetes Jan 2015! I hope we can all benefit from this thread and support each other. Right now , I plan still working part time on Labor and Delivery. I luv it! I can't wait to join the L&D girls one day .

Hello everyone! I'll be starting my ADN program in September! Our orientation is August 2nd so I don't have any information on that yet! Does anyone know what we should wear to orientation? I know, silly question but I wouldn't want to show up in jeans and a tshirt and be out of place.

As far as supplies we will have black tops and bottoms with a orange OSU patch on the tops, a black lab coat, white leather shoes, a iPad, a watch and stethoscope. Then we have to have a drug test, background check, CPR certification, and a physical. And of coorifice books lol.

Good luck to everyone!!

Mine said professional attire. But I don't know if that is at every college. So I will be wearing black pants, heels, and a nice shirt.

I would like either L&D, pediatrics (which I work now), or PICU :) I worked on a telemetry unit and med surg unit and I wasn't in love with those departments.

Woohoo, my orientation is in 2 days, so excited. It's 9a-3p.

If anyone was wondering my kids ages are 9, 8, 7, 3 1/2, and 1 1/2. Their dad is very supportive and knows that my job for the next 2 years is working and school. He said he will do everything, cook, clean, laundry. I feel blessed for that. I was accepted for 2 scholarships which I had a ceremony for it on Thursday May 23rd. It was so sweet when they called my name and I heard the 2 scholarships I was getting and they stated that I was a mom to 5 kids, a CNA, and a nursing student :)
