Class of 2015

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

This is my last week too! I'll probably crash after my last final. Then sleeping in and Christmas movie marathons for me!

My finals were delayed due to the ice storm that hit Oklahoma :( For the first time in my life, I'm not happy that class was cancelled. I'm ready for this final and I just wanna get the semester over with.

Onto my second term! Ugh. Have to repeat 1 class, but it's my own fault. At least it'll be easy.

How does repeat courses work in the program?

I am officially done with this semester....YAY!!!! :D

In ours, you can't fail any of the 'Foundations' courses (Communications, Skills/Clinical, or Theory) but you can fail "Math for Nurses". The catch is, you'll have to retake it the following semester but you won't be able to take the 2nd semester nursing classes. So you'll be a semester behind your original class while retaking that math class. If you fail any of the foundations courses, you're out of the program.

It depends on the policy of your individual program. Some schools require you to reapply. Some save seats for potential repeats and give them to alternates if no repeats are required. Some don't allow repeats at all.

In a nutshell. That's how our program works.

I feel like I'm digging my heels in trying to keep time from passing. Seriously, don't make me go back! :sour: I am sadly not one of those people who loves nursing school.

I believe that I have a love hate relationship with nursing school also! Nursing school is exhausting. But the finish line is so close :)
