I'm getting ready to start in a sub-acute rehab hosp. To me it sounds like a good mix. IV / Wound care trained. Faster pace than LTC but not to the wolves like the Hospital and lots of support unlike HH.

Hospital if you can get in. You will never learn/see as many different things as you will see working med/surg ,and the education there will be many many more times better than anything you could get in school......JMO

I work in a doctor's office and you get to see many different people everyday and also get to know and care about those people. They begin to trust you and that is rewarding. Not to mention all the gifts and treats they bring for Christmas .

I would go Home Health if your are a calm laid back person. Hospital is a rat race anymore. Home Health how ever is a feast or fantum with clients. A lot of hospitals are going computer charting thats nice but you never get to sit down and almost every hospital is 12 shifts. It just depends what you want

i agree. i got 2 years med-surg with agency and 1 on staff. good experience and looks nice on a resume'.

Be careful when you enter home health care, you never know what situations you may find yourself in , when i did home health , during orientation they show you a movie on how to protect yourself, but, you are flying solo, no one else is there with you and if you have a nut in the house, you are in danger!:caduceus:

Just a few other thoughts...

I have a background in Med/Surg, Hospice, and more recently, Outpatient Surgery Center (PreOp/Pacu).

Though a hospital floor can be very, very, crazy what you learn there is invaluable.

Hospice is extremelyt rewarding, but can be hard on you at times.

I do love the ambulatory surgery setting.

I did agency for quite a while (and still do at times) in addition to my regular job. That gave me an array of chances to experiment different settings, from subacute facilities all the way to corrections... You may want to try signing up with one after finding out which facilities they service.
