I am doing my core and will apply for Bridge program in may 2007. Do I really want it. I am a LVN in Texas and make $17.50 an hour. Do I want to do it on campus or online? QUESTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

you will do ok. The RN builds on your LPN. If you have the basics it will work it self out. Get one of your classmates to work with. It will help. Just relax it will be ok

It varies fi you get a facility that is (hard up) they will orient you as little has possible. You have to like the staff you work with if not the stress will drive you out. The pay isnt everything. Its not worth working in a place you are uneasy with or uncomfortable.

I would go Home Health if your are a calm laid back person. Hospital is a rat race anymore. Home Health how ever is a feast or fantum with clients. A lot of hospitals are going computer charting thats nice but you never get to sit down and almost every hospital is 12 shifts. It just depends what you want

You will do fine. Just relax its not that bad. You will learn your residents and it will become old hat.

I graduated in 1978. I have heard them talk of phasing us out for years. In some area they are like the hospitals. They have this crazy idea that RNs can do it all. Maybe but not as well. I cant beleive the change over the years. We did not used to hear of bedsore in hospitals. Now they get them they dont turn them etc. You see LPN more in the Nursing homes, agencies etc.

In Texas it is a state of its own. I have worked here in the valley now for about 20yrs. It is good pay but they over extend they duties of the LVN because they need them so badly. Pic lines are the duty of the RN and it should be done in the ICU CCu units. But in Texas the Dr try to do it on the main floors. You have to be very careful this state will over use you as a LVN. IV.s they train within the facility you work. It is not on your license like some states.

Hi I am a LPN of 28 years. I have working every possible situatiuon. I would recommend that you talk to your Director of Nurses and explain your need for a medication aide ( fulltime-days and partime- evening). You can handle the tube feeders. Your CNAs are your answer. Treasure them as your side kick and use them to their full capacity. Get them on your side they are your ears, eyes and nose. They know the reisidents alot better than you. They work direct person to person with them everyday. Listen to your aides. Get them to trust you that you will respond when they need you. Work along side them. Look at your facility some are very difficult to work in. Your backing by your administration is a big deal. That administration is aware of what is going on out on the floor. Will to assist when you feel you are crashing and burning. Sometimes it is impossible you have to assess the situation and do what you feel is best. Hope this helps
