Biopatch use...

I am trying to find out how many facilities actually use biopatches on their central lines. If your facility uses biopatches will you please respond with your facility location (town & state should be fine) so I can get a general idea? If you dont use biopatches, do you just use sterile gauze or something else? Thanks for your help!!

I use biopatches currently in NC, and I also used them in Ohio when I lived there.

We use biopatches on our central lines in San Francisco General, California

We use biopatch on all PICC lines. Placing RN will sometimes use a gauze if there is oozing at the site, but this is for the first 24hrs only. We try to use biopatch on central lines as well, but most of our docs still stitch their lines down, which makes the biopatch hard to put on. If we can't get the biopatch on, we just use a tegaderm after cleansing with chloraprep. We use gauze only if we have a significant oozing or bleeding problem.

I'm in Ohio, 200-bed, small-city hospital.

Both Hospitals where I live use biopatches on all cental lines - South Georgia

Cleveland Clinic uses biopatches throughout the system. They're policy.

We use biopatches here in Portland,Oregon.

We use them in Louisiana.

Washington, DC

I'm in WI, we use Biopatches....mostly just on PICC's vs jugulars, etc. None of our CVL's are stitched in anymore, either.

North Dallas Texas

I don't know of any hospital in Arizona that does not use them. Used for PICCs and central lines.

I work in the NICU and we only use the biopatches for Broviacs.

The changing of the dressing is done under full sterile procedure (gown, mask, cap, etc).

Our facility has the Broviac dressing change kits.

On the PICC's, we use tagaderm dressings.
