Biggest Payday

Published

Does anyone care to share the amount of their BIGGEST pay check as a nurse? I know that most of us chose this career because we love to care for others, but a very good paycheck is always an extra incentive. So with that said, does anyone care to share?

I'm not a nurse yet, 4 more weeks until graduation, but I have been offered a $5,000 sign on bonus. This is alot of money for a broke college student.:specs:

I've gotten the 5K sign on bonus before (and unfortunately it's only 3K after taxes) and it was nice. My biggest paycheck came over the Christmas holidays one year when I worked a ton of overtime and each holiday (Xmas, Boxing Day and New Years) and was something like 5K after taxes.

My biggest take was with tons of OT, no ins and a temporary increase in deductions- ~1200. For two weeks.

My Biggest payday was the day my indentical twins were born healthy!

I think asking about salaries and bonuses is one thing, but the way you pose your question is a bit intrusive and a bad habit to get into.

Although the title is biggest pay day, the question clearly reads "what is your BIGGEST paycheck as a nurse." A pay check is considered salary and this is what I am asking.

Just for the record my biggest pay day is the day that Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins. Without him giving his life, my life would not be.

Happy Easter To ALL!

I think this is the point that kukukajoo is making: You might get a lot more responses if you ask something like, 'Can anyone tell me the salary range for a new grad in X specialty in X state?'

Sometimes when the question is posed directly about our own personal paycheck, it makes some people feel uncomfortable and less willing to give a straight answer.

What the heck. Two weeks, after taxes, take outs for insurance and retirement, check of $7200

I don't understand what is so intrusive about the question. She isn't asking what your hourly rate is, just how much was the BIGGEST paycheck you have ever had? Unless we knew you, why would you care? Just throw something out there for pete's sake..

There's not a problem with the question - if people want to answer, they will.

I agree. What's the big deal telling what the biggest paycheck you've ever had? If you don't want to answer then don't. Actually, I like this question to give me an idea of how high of a paycheck I could possibly ever get. Thank you to those who replied with a #.

I honestly don't remember, and right now I work a M-F 9-5 office job in which the largest drawback is the low salary. Hee hee... I could tell you about my lowest paycheck!
