Best shoes!

I just started nursing school and I need to buy shoes for when we are working in the lab - these will eventually be my shoes for clinicals. They must be all white with closed toes and heels. Do any of you have any suggestions for what you have found to be the most comfortable shoes? Or any shoes to avoid? We can not wear Crocs. Your input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks to you all!

I love my Danskos

Agree about the Danskos, but it also took me a while to love them -- they felt very hard on my feet for a while. To the OP, I suggest going to a shoe store and trying on a lot of shoes! :) Once you find a shoe you like (size and style), I'd recommend looking for it online to save yourself some money. Allheart.com has a great selection of nursing shoes (like these: http://www.allheart.com/ckharmylw.html), and footprints.com has a lot of Danskos and Dansko seconds (Danskos with minor flaws that are discounted).

Check to see if you school will allow the Crocs Bistro. It is not like the regular style with the holes.

Not sure if that really counts as a closed heel (thus the strap). That's the reason we can't wear those types of Crocs any longer. They're great around the house, though! LOL

I wore all white Nike Shox for school and clinicals. I put them on at 4:30am and didn't take them off until bedtime..around midnight..I have a problem with my feet, the little toe on one foot always seems to hurt in most shoes/sneakers, and the other foot is a bit wider than the other so what fits nicely on the "good foot' was too tight and seemed to impair circulation to the other. Never did I have any pain in the foot with the toe issue and never did it feel like my foot was falling asleep in the other.

since graduation, I bought a pair of Dansko's. I wear them for about 12 hrs and again, no problem in either foot.

I had to get white shoes for school and I got NurseMates (Quantum style). They're so comfy! I just wish they made their shoes in colors other than white and black.

Anyone try those new weird looking Sketchers?

I have some of the Skechers Shape-Ups -- the "Metabolize" style in black. They are squishy and comfortable, but are a bit heavy and I feel like I'm walking strangely (probably am!) when I first put them on. I like them, though.

Air Max 2009!! Are the best shoe!! I kicked my dansko's to the curb!!
