Aug 7, 201312 yr Hi,I start a nursing program in 3 weeks.I've been told that I should get a huge backpack. I was wondering what type of backpack you use? Do you use a roller back pack? Also, I have been looking for a watch that has both the military time and a sweeping second hand. Does anyone know of any good watch brands? Thanks!
Aug 9, 201312 yr Author Lol, I dont know that Mickey Mouse watch looks appealing! I'll look into the TIMEX Weekender watch. I read that they might tick though.
Aug 9, 201312 yr Do you mean a watch like this? Since your screen name starts with man I am going to guess you wouldn't want this other adorable Minnie Mouse one. Tooooo cute!!!!Sent from my iPhone using allnurses.com
Aug 9, 201312 yr I have a timex weekender and it ticks. The band also doesn't last. I can't wear the rubber or silicone since I break out so now I'm looking for a new watch. It's a beautiful day to save lives.
Aug 9, 201312 yr I don't really like rolling backpacks, and being in northern Wisconsin I would only be able to use for a short time anyway before the snow amd ice would make it very impractical (at least to my way of thinking). I'm planning on using a Mountain Hardwear backpack that I already had (I've been using it as a day pack for hiking) - its fairly large and will easily hold any textbooks I'll need to take to class. As far as a watch, I just got a cheap one at Walmart since I needed it for work, as well. And while having military time on it would be nice, it doesn't take long to be able to quickly convert it in your head.
Aug 9, 201312 yr Oh you were right!! It doesn't tick!! I love you i love you![/quote']Fyi I bought a Timex weekender watch and it was a ticking watch. Every timex watch I looked into ticked even if it said it was a sweeping second hand. -_- so misleading!
Aug 9, 201312 yr Backpack? My good ole jansport from high school. I usually only have one class per day and lugging around every book isn't necessary for me if at all. Definitely use the heck out of my laptop case though!! It's neoprene I think? So water doesn't hurt it. I live in the south where it rains practically every week. So it's come in handy!! Watch? Nothing special. A black one with a second hand from wal mart that was like 10 bucks. It's very plain and not cute. Lol I wouldn't worry about anything fancy just something that works with a second hand. Some people use digital though so whatever your school allows you to use!!
Aug 9, 201312 yr I am going into my 3rd semester and I use a LL Bean bag that I have had for many years. They may be pricey, but they LAST. I also wear a Timex Weekender watch and love it.

Aug 9, 201312 yr I despise rolling backpacks as much as umbrellas. Rollies help you gain thirty pounds of fat by forcing you to take the elevator. As for the umbrellas, off topic. I use a regular backpack and carry the heavy book in my hands. You can do it by studying hard!
Aug 9, 201312 yr Excuse my ignorance why should I stay away from a ticking watch? Some schools, like mine and the OP, require watches that do not tick.
