Are you applying to the May 2011 RN program at MCI VA BEACH????

Anyone out there applying to the RN program at the Virginia Beach MCI campus? My older sister just graduated from MCI and has already landed her first job! The wait to see if I am accepted or not is absolutely killing me. Anyone else???

I am applying for the August 2011 start date. I took my TEAS recently and got 85 Reading, 75.6 Math, 76.6 Science, and 76.7 English. I am hoping I can get into the day program. She said that I should take my prerequisites before the start date. I have to submit my application packet and fee. Then, after they process my application I think I have to see financial aid. I am hoping everything runs smoothly. The cost is extremely high but I needed a fast paced nursing program.

I'm applying for August 2011 too and start the pre-req's in May! I feel a lot of anxiety- I was to get the application process over with :) I've handed my in and paid the fee- I'm pretty sure I'm close to having financial aid complete. Just writing my essay and getting the letters of reference written. So excited!

I was in Mrs. B's day Chem class last mod. I'm so excited!

How many chapters did you complete a day in chemistry class. What was the name and author of the book you used?

In reference to teas scores the few people i have discussed it with scored in the 90's on all 3 sections. I'm not sure what the average scores are for those tests though.

Who is your adviser? Mine was Danielle but now she's isn't there anymore so my paperwork was transferred to some one named kim.

I know in order to pass the TEAS you had to get at least a 85 in reading, and a 60 in Grammar, Math and Science. If you log into the ATI website with your blue card ID you can see your national and program scores.

Ill see you at orientation. Dont want to go against safety terms here. Yeah I am in nights too. Sat in the back row at the other end of the table in the computers class.

As for chemistry, you cover 5-6 chapters a week. It doesnt sound like it is too much but believe me clear your schedule for those five weeks! It is HARD! We lost a lot of people because of chemistry. I heard our night class chem teacher made it easier than the day class. A lot of people failed the day class chemistry course. If you can take night chem, I suggest you go that route. He was a REALLY good teacher and very reasonable.

Wow! That is a chapter a day. Is there a Quiz or test every class?

One quiz and one test a week. The class is pretty hard. You have to think you are learning a normal 15 week chem class in 5 weeks. It is tough! LOTS of notes. It was rough. In the night class the quiz would cover one to two chapters and the tests covered every chapter you went over the week before. The final covers 23 chapters I believe.

There was about 24 chapters that we went through, but I don't think we did every single chapter. And some chapters were really short, she only picked out the main concept. It is tough, but Mrs. B taught us shortcuts and really does a good job of making it simple to understand. I don't remember the exact title if the book, but it covers basic chem, bio chem and organic chem. Be prepared to memorize about 30 elements from the periodic table.

We've lost 4 people so far in night chem. He is a very good teacher, but some people just aren't cut out for it. In comparison I'm in TCC's CHM 121 as well and we only made it to chapter 12 in a whole semester. It's the exact same book and everything. I noticed at the end though that they do just pick the main concept of the chapter and don't go into quite as much detail as in the beginning.

I have question: I took the TEAS and my scores weren't in the 90's, but they were all passing (I wasn't aware I was going to have to take it during my first meeting so I was unprepared). My adviser said she wanted to get an idea of where I was before getting prepared instead of after I had time to study. I'm a little freaked out I don't have a shot of getting in if my scores aren't in the 90's and can't retake it because I passed (I know I can do better). I've asked her about it twice and she tells me I'm competitive. Does anyone know anything about this?

i was just accepted into the night class and i start in may. my teas scores were science-70, and the others i got like all 85s.

my scores i believe were on the lower half, but they were alright.

i got all high A's in the pre-reqs, and i think i did pretty well on the essay and letters of recommendation.

i think one of the main things is to get an A in your classes there. It shows that you can handle the fast curriculum, and they say you only need an 80, but thats to be even looked at. You have to remember that your fighting a LOT of other people for your spot.

Kick butt in your classes, turn in an amazing essay and letters, and really let them get a good sense of you in your interview. Im sure youll do great!
